I also find it baffling how the defenders of weaksauce highsec ‘PvP’, which is actually just ‘GfP’ (ganking for profit), don’t see the difference between “spin doctoring a situation to make it seem they way they _want_ to believe it is” and “observing the **actual** facts and behaviour patterns of high sec GfP”.

> Playing as a criminal in highsec is playing Eve on ‘nightmare’ difficulty. You have to deal with one-side aggression mechanics, infallible, tireless NPCs, and guaranteed loss to even try to PvP with someone.

Yeah well if you picture High-sec ‘PvP’ as brave banditos running sorties against fat rich farmers against terrible odds, I suppose you could pretend that’s the case.

Since high-sec GfP is actually a bunch of bored, rich, multi-boxing, multi-alting vets looking to score a quick bit of excitement, salt and loot by using throwaway gank-ships to take on easy and defenseless targets before getting blown away by Concord and suffer **no significant loss whatsoever** , in fact they normally make a _profit_ on it, then your statement is revealed for the pile of wishful-thinking, spin-doctored BS it actually is.

It’s just a mathematical transaction with the odds in the gankers favor all the time. They are almost completely safe until they find their weak pinata to gank, because they aren’t generally free kills and the economics of ganking gankers don’t lead to a net profit.

If EVE were actually a game of important choices and consequences, gankers wouldn’t be allowed to gank with impunity endlessly. Gankers would eventually have to face serious and permanent consequences. Systems would be worked out to make the process a little less “Scan cargo, decide if profit from gank is worth more than gank-ship, if yes, gank. Repeat.”

Look how the PvPers screamed and cried about Crimewatch 2.0, when for a while they thought their ganking might have actual consequences. They wailed about it for months, and EVE enjoyed it’s best year ever… until a few dedicated gankers figured out how to do the math and went right back to ganking, and the opportunists followed them. Player population stats have been all downhill from there.

Population numbers, destruction charts, and activity rankings are “facts”. Those **facts** all say high-sec is gankers paradise, and places where gankers are _actually in danger_, such as Null Sec and Low, are islands of relative calm.

“Playing as a criminal in highsec is playing Eve on ‘nightmare’ difficulty”, now, that’s just an opinion. A spin-doctored, biased, exaggerated opinion at that. So yeah, next time you’re baffled by the ‘obvious facts’, you should check first if they’re actually facts.

But why would a ganker ever go to low/null space? If their entire goal is to kill fat haulers (who think they’re safe because of CONCORD) for profit, then why would they ever go to places where there are no targets? I think that in your blind, rage-induced drive to demean gankers with an appeal to spaceship bushido, you’ve completely ignored the actual _point_ of the whole profession.

Also, “if EVE were actually a game of important choices and consequences,” then you wouldn’t be able to mine or run missions in high-sec, because natural resources and enemy armies don’t magically fully regenerate after you wake up from a night of sleep. Your wishful thinking cuts both ways. :V

TBH the idea that the empires would allow random capsuleers to just roll up and exploit their resources is the most ridiculous aspect of Eve.

“Oh look, a random jackass with a pickaxe, sure, I guess he can just have some mineral rights wherever he might like to setup shop.”

Almost as strange as the 4 major factions saying that anyone turning their backs on the human race, destroying assets financed by your taxes, removing trillions of ISK both in property and generating activities, interrupting commerce, and killing your population is freely able and welcome to use our faction space, the jumpgates, faction stations, and markets without any repercussions for so adversely affecting us by their actions.

CCP has never really tried to interject reality or common sense to much of their gameplay mechanics.

Actually, that’s not correct. Remember that capsuleers are sovereign entities, and not “citizens” of any particular empires. That’s why the empires don’t really _care_ what they do to each other. When you harm an empire’s actual assets, like their navy or industrial ships, you get pretty hefty standing penalties.

Because the rich null blocks make allot of isk from hi-sec. (TTT)

If CCP were to remove hi-sec that would send these null players into an uproar…and we all know they love to log out and throw a tantrum. (blackout)

EDENCOM is both tax financed and manned by the local factional governmental body. Tax income is based on market sales within that factions governing area; disrupting trade routes reduce overall gross tax revenue (barring later date possibility of readjustment). Raw physical assets/property is removed from the tax rolls.

Through their actions, Trig supporting Capsuleers are weakening the 4 main factions. CCP has illogically decided that the factions just don’t care for their ideal gameplay, but don’t claim it makes logical sense.

If the empires were so concerned about tax revenue, they wouldn’t let you anchor market-equipped citadels in their space that allow you to skip paying taxes entirely.

ALL governments are concerned about tax revenue; it funds their very existence!

CCP just arbitrarily decided to eliminate the tax issue as an added incentive for more player built stations to be created and, perversely, help encourage the station spamming going on today…which they then had to change the rules again to help get rid of offline stations and their assets.
However, their is no realistic and logical reason for it.

C’mon, this is CCP we are talking about. Proper planning?!..snort.

Ok, I see where you might think that. The point being is that CCP is far, far, less caring about realistic cause/effect thinking than it is in directing their intended version of the game through active manipulation of the rules/outcome regardless of logic or reality. Their use of “The Magician’s Forte” is quite apparent and the in game results appear to actively mirror CCP’s widely announce goal of fracturing HS and making Space, in whole, less safe. I mean, a good example is you can change a system from HS to low or null, but you cannot change a LS system to HS, despite turning it into an EDENCOM fortress full of faction ships.

CCP has a vision they want to create and damn logic/realism to accomplish it. Well, it IS their game, so I hope they know what they are doing, but…

</div>

I doubt CCP will cash out that much. They might believe it, but reality is that highsec dudes who can’t play their way tend to stop playing until they can play again their way. IF they ever play again, that is.

So… some will leave Amarr and Amarr will decay like the other former faction hubs. Some will take a temporary leave and will forget to log in back. Some few will adapt and have fun.

But for the most people, letting Niarja fall “randomly” into nullsec is a fukk-up and CCP’s finances will pay for it.

The best thing a new player can do is move to null, join a null block, and crab, rat, and explore for more isk and complete safety.

And every few years fleet up, hit F1…and then play another game while ti-di does its thing.
