Frankly the issue with skill injectors is that for CCP they’re a quick intense income rather than a steady but slower income, and in the long run CCP is losing money (and players) with that trade-off. Whether SP and experience compensate each other, there’s no absolute answer. ---

I often agree with a lot that Remiel writes, just not that particular statement. Is there any particular reason you need to keep repeating what I think? In relation that that particular statement, injectors give more options for ships and fits. Probably gives those poor newbies a little bit more survivability while they die in a mess and then quit because they couldn’t buy their way to Level 90. ---

I’m going to clarify this one more time. If you go back to where I originally wrote it (buried now, but it’s up there somewhere) it was a reply, and in the context of it being a reply to a statement made about allowing new players to compete in the game, what I was actually saying was: “Skill injectors don’t help new players compete with vets at all” Salvos turned it into a semantics argument, and we’ve been playing ever since. Fun times. ---

Are you now claiming an SP injected new player cant compete in economic PvP better than without SP injection? You changed “not helping at all” to include (competing vs veterans). An SP injected market trader will incur less loss via NPC costs related to trade, than a non-SP injected trader, as will manufacturers etc. ---

Your intent is clear, but somehow the last sentence has been extracted from the whole as though the context of what you wrote wasn’t important. So in isolation, which is where this argument got to, I don’t agree with it. In the context of what you actually meant from the rest of that post, I agree. The net result is people trying to buy their way to greatness. Failing because they didn’t grow as a player while their character was growing, and they are disappointed by the result. Not a great experience for new players in my view and I can’t see how it could be good for the game in the long term. ---

I can only suggest you go back to where it was posted, what it was replying to, and see if you can actually understand it. Your failure to comprehend me is your own failure. This whole argument has been a semantics one from the very beginning. I know what you’re like, Salvos. We’ve been dancing for years. I’m just always a few steps ahead, and leading you around is fun. No, a new player can’t compete against vets regardless of their SP. Vets have something that new players don’t have: knowledge. Even in economic PVP, they know the best systems to mine in, they know their escape routes, they know market values, they know third-party tools, and they know all this stuff like the back of their hands. Newbies all have to start with research, some trial and error, and regardless of any increased efficiency their SP might grant them, it’s negated by the time spent Googling what kind of PI goes into making fuel, and where the best planets might be for that, or how to best min-max their mining yield, and how to fit a boat that can achieve that without being ganked twice a day. Yes, in all circumstances, injectors won’t help newbies compete against vets, because vets are just as capable of using those injectors to widen the gap even further. Right up until there is no SP gap, given the newbie has enough money. Then the only gap left is experience, and that experience makes much more of a difference than SP ever can on its own. ---
