A Mask you have me Wear

An extract from an unpublished entry file titled “Broken Poems from an Unbroken Heart”

A mask you have me Wear

You have forever been my cornerstone,
My bright beacon to fight back the darkness,
But you’ve cast me far into the unknown,
To wear a mask to seem me heartless.

It’s burden weighs heavy upon my soul,
My dents and scars stand testament to this,
Through grit I will keep on my given role,
Still I yearn for the past and reminisce.

Your clear blue skies and calm emerald seas,
Of pure innocence and conscience clean,
Or the simple love beneath our trees,
Every night my dream is so serene.

But wake I must to dance your masquerades,
To act and dance till the spotlight fades.
