that’s a general warning about “one or more” factions standing changes.

my personal issue with faction missions is that you will take a standing hit every session timer against the faction you are shooting. so accepting a mission that will give you a 1.0 boost to amarr will negatively affect you by .5 for minmatar + a .xx hit for every session change you spend shooting the minimatar navy in that mission. (bigger the hull you are shooting the bigger the hit)

i would like to see a removal of the faction/corp standings hit for actually killing the NPCs in the mission (as they are technically breaking the law by setting up and engaging in hostile territory) and keep the standings gains/losses tied to mission completion.
alternatively add a standings boost to the faction you are working for for every NPC you kill (per session timer) to off set this misunderstood mechanic

Standings has nothing to do with law. “If you shoot our guys, we wont like you”. It works same way in RL. Why you can’t understand that?

t

that i fully understand, it was one of my thoughts on a potential work around for the unbalance in gains and losses for faction/story-line missions that currently exist. until it changes i will strongly urge any new player to steer clear of any mission that directly pits you against a faction navy.

EVE is built on a foundation of lore. to see it have a tangible impact on game play would be great

The Insorum Hijacking

We’ve just received a distress call from a Zainou Biotech transport ship nearby, saying that she was under attack by unknown hostiles and her escort force was failing fast. Unfortunately, most of the nearby vessels are unable to assist and as a result the CEP has ordered everyone in the general vicinity to try and find pod pilots willing to assist the transport before it is too late.

It is critical that they receive that assistance, because that convoy is carrying a large quantity of chemical components for a new synthesis of insorum. No doubt you’re aware of how valuable such a thing would be, and how dangerous it would be if it were to fall into the wrong hands. Zainou, and the State, cannot allow such a compound to fall into the hands of terrorists or foreign powers. We need you to fly to the last reported location of this convoy and destroy any attackers; if the convoy is still in serviceable shape, escort it to the nearest safe station, otherwise, recover whatever you can of the insorum synthesis components and bring them back to me immediately. Are you up to it?

You will need a Salvager to complete this task.

Declining a mission from a particular agent more than once every 4 hours may result in a loss of standing with that agent, except in the case of special missions that clearly state otherwise in their description.

right pane :

This is an important mission, which will have significant impact on your faction standings.

The Insorum Hijacking Objectives
The following objectives must be completed to finish the mission:

Bring Item Objective
Acquire these goods:
Drop-off Location [REDACTED]
Item 1 x Insorum Components (1,0 m³)

Objective
Destroy the Minmatar ships and salvage the Insorum Components. Location {REDACTED]

This site contains special ship restrictions.

Rewards
The following rewards will be yours if you complete this mission:
1 700 000 ISK

Bonus Rewards
The following rewards will be awarded to you as a bonus if you complete the mission within 6 hours:
1 750 000 ISK

The Insorum Legacy
Despite the death of Dr. Ullia Hnolku at the hands of Caldari paramilitary forces and the capture of all remaining insorum samples by enemies of the State, Zainou Biotech continues to research the process for creating the material at various locations in the Caldari State. Speculation continues as to what their intentions are if they ever manage to replicate the process; some within the Amarr Empire fear the Caldari will use it as a weapon should they have reason to fight the Empire, while the Federation’s halls echo with concerns that the Caldari will use it as a counterweight to break the Republic from the grasp of the Gallente. The only sure bet is that the Republic would pay almost any price, in money or blood, to have the secret of insorum creation in its hands.

Where does it say it will have negative impact on two empires faction at least ?

To lose standing with the NPC’s pirate corps doesn’t make sense to me when they’re the ones who always attack.
I would suggest something about that but…It probably be a waste of time and I don’t want to be jumped in-forum by people who know the game better than I do, which is just about anyone.

reading is hard…

I guess thats not the one that contains the warning Ive seen.

It is pretty daft to argue about something that is such a small deal though. And is easily findoutable.

it does contain a warning at the begining of the right pane :
“This is an important mission, which will have significant impact on your faction standings.”
The matter is, it does not say that you will actually lose faction with two empires.

99% of gameplay for veterans is that exactly. I play EVE for over 10 years, I don’t really read most of those missions outside the actions I need to do and sometimes only when it’s not completing. I was playing with a friend that I was forcibly dragging into EVE Online against his will.

We did some hyasyoda agent missions together and I explained how the faction and corp and agent faction gains worked. I totally forgot about the popup after 6? missions to get a STORYLINE. Being proud of the offer of an IMPORTANT BONUS mission het set off to do it. When he completed it he told me there were strange changes in his standings. In general, it will be nice as we will be doing the SOE Epic Arc to correct things before he will be declined entry into 50% of high sec.

Note that he observed it and some people will not and will be in trouble after doing weeks of missions without leaving their empire. If a better warning is there, or even a link to the SOE Epic arc people will be less ignorant of the status changes and won’t have to quit or in teh best case start an alt and be grumpy about the “damaged alt”.

Hey some people want to work stuff out, others dont.

I wasnt aware that they had removed social skills or had stopped you from entering an empire you are -3+ to.

you should not be shot at by empire navies for a -3 standing.

Faction standings “ammar, cald, mini Ect”
the Navy should only start shooting at you for -5 to -10 standing with the empire
Joining FW automatically makes you KOS in the opposite empires space

Concord Standing (sec status)
faction navies will also shoot at you for standing at or below: -2 you are KOS in 1.0, at -2.5 you are SOS in .9, -3.0 you are KOS in .8. ect until -5 where you will be a criminal. (note that entering concord owned will the appropriate above standing will cause you to go GCC)

Correctamundo!

Further; FacPo dont prevent anyone from entering their space.

They even give you a head start to go to any station or structure you like.

EDIT: social skills are still a thing. any are really helpful in fixing standings issues faster

EVE should be hard and harsh from design and many of us love EVE for that, so we don’t want to be guided by hand to everything (see how agency removed exploration from game).

But if you failed to realize after first missions that this type of missions works both ways (they improve your standings with friends of that faction and decrease to enemies) I see issue between monitor and chair. And no. One mission won’t ruin your standings.

Again: “This is an important mission, which will have significant impact on your faction standings.” Don’t say it will be positive or negative impact. But after doing 16 normal missions you should get idea that missions standings works both way.

EVE simply work this way, it wont give you everything on silver platter.

That is why I suggest a way to make it easier for new players.
This is the “Player Features and Ideas” I guess not one post will be about “how it works” but “How it could be better/different.” Forums simply work this way.
