Planetary Industry Makes No Sense

I still prefer nice and clean products to mere dirt in my haulers
It’s true, there always has to be a market. Perhaps a buyer in your tradehub needs some raw material, than you might also set up contracts.

From the looks of EveTycoon, your complex organisms are still on an average high. My advice would be to store them in Jita 4.4 and sell them on one of these anomalies which seems to happen more than once a month. It looks like a very volatile market.

Not being an omega PI farmer, is it very costly to swap to another crop? Currently the higher pay is still the organisms, but autotrophs, flesic magma, noble metals, non-cs crystals, and planktic colonies are close behind it. My other suggestion would be to farm another crop while you watch the market.

It won’t cost me to switch production unless I move my extractors. Extractors are cheap 45000, if I need to relocate them. Total cost is 990000 isk to move the farm to the other side of the planet is 2 extractors and one launch pad. You don’t want them to have long links you must move all three. The farms can be place anywhere in the radius of the extractor and production changed without cost.

Temperate planets have the organics such as autotrophs, but the ocean planets have the planktic colonies. Switching planets is not cheap, buying the new command center and upgrading it to level 5 is about 5 million isk. If you ever try this yourself, pick your planets wisely.

This is something else I noticed today about the PI system one may take advantage of during shipping/hauling goods.

It would seem, planetary customs offices can be used to off load your shipment anywhere along your route. For example; you need to haul a load from Metropolis to The Forge and you notice there is a lot of pirate activity after Hek system. You can actually pick any planet’s custom office, as long as you jot it down or remember it, to store your goods at a reasonable midway point. I know you can do this at station docks, but spies or what I suspect are spies, will hang out in ships looking for your ship. There is no tax fee for storing at the customs office since you are not transferring them planet side.

I was hauling a load worth 58 million isk and decided after being scanned at a gate to drop my load. I ended up leaving it in 2 customs office and ran back to the farms. Probably confused the ■■■■ out of the peon who scanned me down.

I wonder if anyone will shoot you down for a 58m cargo. It is just not worth it and will only happen if they are bored or need Concord pulled anyway.

And if you do 58m isk cargoruns the whole day, you seem to really have too much time at hand. For 58m isk most people wouldn’t even undock and just trash it.

But as said above. If you like it, then continue. But you will be so busy doing this time consuming thing that you totally miss out on learning more profitable activities in EVE.

The tax of storing your stuff in a random POCO is that you might lose a load like that.

Either you forget which POCO you chose, as it doesn’t show up on your asset window like that, or it gets destroyed in the mean time.

I used to use POCOs as additional storage for my own planets and extend the time it would take me before I had to haul again by emptying the launchpad into the POCO and leaving it there.

I stopped doing that when hostiles in the neighborhood occasionally destroyed the POCOs/Skyhooks with my stuff inside. It’s cheaper to just haul and put it somewhere safe with asset safety.

It’s a nice trick though and can be useful some time!

I tested it prior to posting. I tossed some random items I would not miss if they vanished. I returned a week later and all the items were still in there. Also taxes are only applied to transfer to launchpad. I don’t have a launchpad or even a command center on the planet. The only way to lose your stuff would be to forget the location. Like I said, take a moment to jot it down. AFAIK there is no way to seach other than going planet to planet, unless you completely forgot the system, then you really are SOL.

Some people shoot at anything, but at the time I was 1 jump off passing thru a lowsec system. I imagine he was in there waiting on me. I only used Hek as an example, I am not farming anywhere near Hek.

I am ok with it. According to my Z Bank, I made 1.2 billion isk doing it like this, that is a lot more than I expected. I only haul when the opportunity is available.
