Firstly, welcome back to the game 
Ok, we’re not low-sec, we’re nullsec, and yes, we are part of an alliance (and, of late, a coallition), but we also (mostly) live in NPC null, close to lowsec, so best of both worlds? We don’t go to 1000 press F1 to continue ops (and, personally, I’m not that big of a fan of those either), but we do like our infrastructure and we do like keeping it alive, so sometimes it’s better to defend it :).
