Little things / Small QoL suggestions

We added the ability to create contracts for multiple ships 2020 (I think)

we are still following this thread, so please feel free to keep posting your Little things ideas here :slightly_smiling_face:

Please keep the suggestion short, to the point and only 1 sentence. Please only 1 suggestion in each post.

To make it easier to read and process, please post your suggestions in the following format:

Suggestion: Ability to see volume in Multibuy

Keywords: ui, multibuy, market
Note: Useful buying stuff to ship somewhere else

When I’m buying stuff from Jita with Multibuy and need to ship it somewhere else, it would be very useful to know how much space the order takes up so I know if it fits in my 60k m3 hauler.

Suggestion: Exempt from Conduit Jump

Keywords: Fleet, Conduit, Fleet Window
Note: You can exempt from fleet warp, why not conduit

Conduit jumping often times snags people AFK in space or are actively mining which creates problems and bringing that to parity with exempting from fleet warp would be a nice QoL boost.

Suggestion: Add a Boost/Buff Icon for active compression

Keywords: Mining, Compression, Mining Foreman

Fleets have no visual indication whether compression is active without either right clicking their ore, or going off of the mining foreman’s word. Adding this small QOL UI element for fleet members in range of compression would be great with a timer of how long is left and the ore type as well.

Suggestion: Add mined Ore in Mining Hold in input material Compression Window

Keywords: Mining, Compression

Allow any newly mined ore in the Hold to be added into the input materials compression window instead having the needs to select all again, right click and press compress and press compressed again.

Suggestion: Ability to fly more effectively

I would like the following command to be added:

  • warp back to the previous location

thanks

why??

I do not always have time to save my position […] and sometimes it’s difficult for me to remember in which corner of a star system I was before.

control B IIRC is bookmark… BM your location soon as you arrive.

I’m constantly jumping from one position to another and it doesn’t seem useful to me to have dozens of spots in each star system.

If the devs add this command many people could use it, those who find it useless won’t use it, if the devs don’t add it that’s fine too.

anyway, thank you very much for your suggestion

but what is you wanted to warp back to the position just before the position you just warped from?

as suggested, control+B create a BM and have it expire after 2 hours solves this (non) issue

I don’t need to have 20 locations saved in 2hs and guess which one I was last in.
I’d like to have a command to go back to the last one I visited, because I’m moving to repair shields, armour, unload the cargohold and want to quickly reunite with friends or enemies.

If this is a problem, dear devs, do not consider my proposal.

Personal shared hangers with ACL access.

We already have Access Lists for bookmarks. We should allow people to create a personal shared hanger that uses the same lists.

Make it easier to share hanger filters.

Right now I have to open the filter, drag it to a mail, then open the next filter.

If I change a filter I have to update the email again.

Or I can make multiple channels and stick them in the MOTD. Please make it something sharable like bookmarks.

Need to train reading comprehension. See @CCP_karkur post above. Theres a certain way you need to make your suggestions.

Suggestion: Create SUB-hangars within existing hangars to help organize stuff.
Keywords: Hangar, Organize, Clutter, Disorganized, Materiel, Neat, Exotic Dancers
Note: Help organize cluttered hangars - add hangar subdivisions.
Let us create subdirectories for hangars like we do on the C: drive of our computers to keep stuff organized. Like the Ship Hangar could allow players to create subdirectories like Industrials, Combat, Shuttles&Corvettes or Tech 1, Tech 2, or even Cheap, Expensive, etc. Same for the Item Hangars. Station containers and filters only help so much. More options for organizing the massive amount of stuff in this game would be nice!! Station containers are clumsy to move around, difficult to acquire in some locations and they smell bad when you leave exotic dancers inside for too long.

Wdym by “station containers are clumsy to move around”? You can cram 10 standard station containers into one small cargo container and move them with the frigate.

There is only one drawback - you need industry service in the target station

More details here

For personal use you can skip that stack splits inside the small container and go with BPO instead of 10 run BPCs

Suggestion: Automatically close the tab menu in the new ship interface window when a tab is clicked
Keywords: UI
Notes: In the new Ship Interface panel, tabs are set to auto-hide, when one is clicked it keeps the tab menu open to cover the content in minimized windows:

This makes the panel less convenient to use minimized

Another option is to not expand the tabs at all and only show the icons, possibly with a non-invasive tooltip if text is really required (imho it is not):

They can not be repackaged, reprocessed or trashed if they contain log entries that are less than 3 weeks old. They can not be jettisoned nor launched into space. Assembled, they are too large to fit inside any ship’s cargohold. TLDR: “CLUMSY to move around.”

Suggestion: Have an option to optimize a skill plan by shortest train time (taking into consideration pre-prequisites)

Keywords: training, skill plans, progression

Notes: when creating a skill plan it would be nice to be able to automatically sort that plan by time (ascending or decending), for example i created a plan based on Mastery level IV for a venture. There are 52 skills over 102 days. Too much to go through to manually organise, a simple button to sort by time would improve the skill plan experience.
