Little things / Small QoL suggestions

Suggestion: Change the next Gate colour to something other than dull yellow.
Keywords: UI, overview, navigation, colour color, visibility, gate, visibility
Ever since beta the next gate colour has been yellow, over the years it it has become a lighter shade of yellow. This is fine if the system your in is dark or don’t have the overview pinned. But otherwise it is very difficult to see the next jumpgate against the background. This is becomeing more of a issue on bigger screens at higher resolutions.

Suggestion: Add stations as waypoints on your autopilot route, separate from gates.
Keywords: autopilot, route, UI
Note: When setting a route, the last gate is “hidden” by the station. So, the number of pips on your autopilot route will be one short of the total number of warps for every gate-station pair.
If you set your destination as another station in system, it shows one pip. If you set a station as your destination in the next system over it shows…one pip. If you set a a station as your destination two systems over it shows…two pips. Give stations their own icon, and make it show as separate from the gate you had to traverse to get to it.

Suggestion: Let us put the same station multiple times in the same route
Keywords: autopilot, route, UI
Note: When ferrying stuff between two stations, it is currently necessary to set your current station as the last leg before leaving. Why can’t we just stack up multiples of the same destination?

Suggestion: Let us color the route by other map color options
Keywords: autopilot, route, UI, Map
Note: Okay, this one is less useful to me personally. How about letting us select to color route entries by some of the other color options in the map. Things like number of pilots in space, or, more relevant, number of ships destroyed in the last hour.
For that matter, let us have a pair of player definable toggles, so you can check A-B on the route, like overviews. ‘A’ could then continue to show actual, official, security standing, while ‘B’ could be set to show number of ships destroyed in the last hour, and ‘C’ might be number of pilots active in system.
This is all information available, (with a delay), from the map. I’m asking that it be made available, in a simplified form, for the autopilot route display.
Edit to say: Someone who is sticking entirely to null probably doesn’t care a whit about sec status other than red. They might, however, want to color waypoints based on their own alliances sovereignty.

Suggestion: In Industry tab, top pane, change “Job Runs” to “Physical Copies” or change “Runs Per Copy” to something that makes sense
Keywords: ui, industry
Note: Currently the top box says “JOB RUNS” and the bottom box says “RUNS PER COPY”, the definition of the word “RUN” is overloaded in this context

On top of this piece, make holding a button down equal to minimum distance without touching another object. Could make the change to hexagons unnecessary.

Suggestion: Fix the chat UI
Keywords: ui, chat
Note: The chat configuration doesn’t save

Everytime I log on I have to fully configure the chat to my preference, that is compact member list on each tab, text only mode on each tab, the order of the tabs, the size of the input text box and the size of the member list box, also I have to hide all the tabs that I usually hide because I can’t remove them. This is 1-2 minutes configuring the chat everytime I enter the game, would be nice if it gets saved so I dont have to do it again and again.
One other thing chat related is that I like to have text only chat because that way I can see twice the text in the same amount of space, but all the text including the names is in white color, and that makes it hard to read and detect specific parts of it, would be nice to have an option so that everybody’s name is a different color, thats it, If you guys change all that I’ll be the happiest boi alive xD
Great looking forum btw

Suggestion: Allow The Agency icon to be removed from info panel just like Opportunities
Keywords: UI
Note: Just like Opportunities, some folk are not in the least bit interested in The Agency but unlike The Opportunities where it can be erased from your UI completely when you right-click its symbol and click ‘Do not show in Info Panel’, The Agency’s symbol is still there in the info panel. Being able to right-click its symbol and ‘Remove from Info Panel’ would be desirable and leave less UI clutter for the user from something they will potentially never use.

You might want to take this one to https://forums.eveonline.com/c/issues-workarounds-localization/general-issues
That is not a problem I have, so I can only presume it’s a problem with your, specific, installation.
There’s probably a file you could delete, or mark something other than Read Only, to get this problem to go away.

You forgot to post it in the form of a question.

I think you intended to say…
Suggestion: Make fighters behave like drones or ammunition one, when repackaging from the assets window.
Keywords: Fighters, Asset Window, UI
Note: Presently, you can’t repackage a carrier unless you’re present to remove the drones that are loaded in the tubes. This prevents you from repackaging the ship from anywhere but the station where it is docked.

I don’t know this, because I don’t have a carrier, but it sounds like what you were trying to say.

Thank you kind man, that’s exactly what it is.

Suggestion:: When deploying drones via groups or keyboard shortcuts the client should give preference to non or less damaged drones over more damaged drones.
Keywords: ui, drones, drone window
Note: I always have to move damaged drones out of my drone groups to keep the client from redeploying them even when I have enough spare drones to make a full flight of undamaged drones. I could have 9 undamaged drones and 1 damaged drone and when I use the keyboard shortcut to launch drones i will deploy 4 undamaged drones and that 1 damn damaged drone every time

Suggestion: Route sharing/copy current route to/from clipboard
Keywords: ui, route, autopilot, clipboard, waypoints
Note: Often fleets in EVE find that they have to fly a common route. It would be extremely helpful if they had a better way of sharing it than the current method (linking every waypoint separately). One idea is to copy the current route as a comma separated list of systems or stations to and from the clipboard along with relevant settings (shortest, avoidance). Another is to make it an object that you can share.

Suggestion: Ability to see number of runs left on a BPC in the inventory window
Keywords: ui, bluprints, inventory
Note: producers currently need to click through the blueprints one-by-one when looking for a BPC with the needed number of runs
When a producer builds components for a capital ship he cannot see the blueprints which have the needed number of runs left. The number should be visible by activating a new column in the inventory view.

Or, since you can’t stack BPC’s anyway, how about using the existing indicator for stack size?

Suggestion: Create corp filters for items
Keywords: ui, filter, intventory
Note: Useful for quick filtering out thing in massive corp hangars filled with lots of different stuff.

I also gotta say I love most of the QoL things you implement Karkur, in my eyes you’re one of the best devs. Just wanted to let you know that <3

Suggestion: Click anywhere to set Settings sliders
Keywords: ui
Note: Some of the few remaining sliders where you must precisely click the handle

I think I’ve asked for this in every Little Things thread ever, but I can’t find references as it looks like the search now searches only new new forums

Suggestion: Provide autoclean option for ships
Keywords: ship, clean
Note: Useful for those who like to keep their ships clean

Add a checkbox next to the clean ship button in the fitting window to enable autoclean. The ship will automatically be cleaned every time it docks. Charge 1000 ISK for each cleaning.

Suggestion: Put the capsuleer-count back into the local window.
Keywords: UI
Note: If you’re moving the local window to the side, to only show the member list, you no longer see the count of people anymore, since it’s on the left-hand side.

Here’s a screenshot of the old local window: https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/images/6/6b/Local_to_the_side.png

The little capsuleer icon on the top right (along with the irrelevant infantry one) was very useful and allowed you to see the number of people in local when you position the local window on the side like shown in the image. This greatly reduces the footprint of local while allowing you to see the more relevant stuff.

Please consider bringing it back.
