Ore Hauler Contract "Concept"

You really did pick the worst example. People have long since shifted from ccp fixing the insurance mechanic to removing it and saving new players from getting scammed by the game.

The one area it was truly worth while was capitals. So much so that players were demanding a nerf. And intended or otherwise the industry changes solved that problem.

Again let me reiterate.

This is not saying you are getting good value for your money. You get money back under agreed terms upon valid ship destruction. The NPC game mechanics don’t just willy nilly decide not to pay and skip town and make a fresh alt. The downside of this payment guarantee is ‘often’ poor repayment coverage (however once again those terms are upfront). Capitals as you point out are eventually getting sorted out by Industry changes.

If you want better values on ship insurance/ship replacement you deal with players. NPC insurance generally being poor coverage value is an incentive point to try player operations, despite their risks. It’s a mental anchoring point for players to consider other tangential options.

This entire point is meant to illustrate the necessary dynamics between NPC and Player services to help keep new eden generally functional (it doesn’t always work out in practice and can take eons for devs to ‘get right’ which getting right is an Overton window).
