The State and the Republic have a non-aggression pact. But Minmatar are still allied with the Gallente. The Republic will not aid the Federation against the State. And Caldari are still allied with Amarr but will not aid them against the Republic. This effects faction standing. You don’t get negative Caldari standing when you get Minmatar standing and vice versa.
They still, however, have not removed anti-Caldari missions from Republic agents and vice versa. And completing those types of missions is the only way you can get faction loss between Caldari and Minmatar as far as I can tell.
Gallente continue to get both Caldari and Amarr indirect standing loss.
Amarr continue to get both Minmatar and Gallente indirect standing loss.
The lore is published by CCP, it’s not hearsay/conjecture. CCP not updating things everywhere when things change is a well known ‘feature’. Those alliances required mutual aid, why have an alliance if they don’t help you in wars? “An alliance between nations is a formal agreement, often a treaty, where two or more countries pledge mutual support, typically focusing on defense, security, and shared interests”
This was born out in the initial articles I posted.
These are two statements that cannot be both true. Especially in a world where there are only 4 nations. There are still trade and friendly relations yes, but not an alliance, which necessitates helping each other in war when attacked. If the Caldari were to invade Luminaire again, as things stand now, the Minmatar will not come to the Gallentean’s aid.
If the Amarr ever invaded the Gallente, the Minmatar would intervene. There is mutual animosity towards Amarr.
If the Gallente invaded Amarr the Caldari would intervene on behalf of the Amarr. Again, because of mutual animosity toward the Gallente.
But the Minmatar and Caldari forces will not directly fight each other. The Minmatar and Caldari would always fight a war on one front. Whereas the Amarr and Gallente fight on two fronts. Prior to the change all four fought on two fronts.
It has never made sense for the Caldari and Minmatar to have any beef. That’s what CCP changed. At least when it comes to standings.
They are a faction (same category as Gallente) with high standings towards the Gallente and Minmatar though, and according to you, that means alliance. I was pointing out the fallacy.
By that logic they’ve never been in conflict. And neither has the Gallente and Caldari who also openly trade with each other. The Minmatar and Amarr both have businesses of their supposed foes in their space, which has never made any sense. Why would the Amarr allow Republic Security Services stations inside their borders? You’re trying to make sense out of poor writing. Because the game doesn’t coincide with the story.
According to me? Where did I say this? You’re arguing against your own strawman.
But if I’m wrong quote me where I state the basis for there being an alliance between the Gallente and Minmatar is based on in-game standings. You completely made that up.
What I find interesting is all the FW guys I talk to know about the alliances dying, but some forum people who aren’t up to date about the lore insist that they are allied still.
The alliances have been dying for a lot longer than the shadow war. For instance Karin Midular’s assassination, the subsequent arrest of the perpetrator by the federation, his extradition to the republic, and the show trial and quick execution that followed. Not to mention a senatorial delegation’s request to attend Midular’s funeral being denied.
Would the Minmatar fight the Amarr if they declare war on the Gallente? Likely yes, but they would do that regardless, anything else would be squandering a massive opportunity. Would the Caldari seize the opportunity to strike the Gallente in that situation? Also very likely yes. What the Minmatar wouldn’t do is help the Gallente against the Caldari, just as the Caldari are unlikely to help the Amarr against the Minmatar. In lore the Caldari and the Minmatar are significantly smaller empires than the Gallente and the Amarr, and their struggles against their big neighbours more existential. The Gallente and the Amarr dislike each other on ideological grounds, but that enmity is less personal than the Minmatar’s contempt of their former (and in many cases current) owners and overlords, or the Caldari feeling strangulated under the Federation, and their very desperate struggle for independence the century after they broke away.
That has nothing to do with their alliance status. It has to do with the fact that Caldari and Minmatar are no longer adversaries. That change was introduced by CCP to reflect that new neutrality.
Again, quote me where I said standings have anything to do with whom is or isn’t allied with who.
Dying and dead are two different things. “FW guys” don’t determine the direction CCP takes the storyline. You’re attempting to place “alliance” into a very narrow definition. The Gallente and Minmatar are very much allied against Amarr by virtue of shared animosity. An all-encompassing mutual defense pact does not have to exist for there to be an alliance.
This has been my position. Along with the fact that the alliances are dead. Which again is what CCP themselves have said. FW guys deal with the reality of these alliances being broken, other capsuleers do not. The fact that you and I may both hate criminals does not mean we are both in an alliance with each other.
Regardless of politics and whatever lore may or may not be involved, I made 16b on 5 accounts doing level 1 missions for the event reward track. I am really just fine with whomever wins, I got paid.
