Dear CCP, I want to be a miner as a solo player, but it feels like the system is designed to punish me

Again… I didnt say high sec flies the most expensive ships.

I. Know. Capital. Ships. Are. Flown. Outside. High. Sec.

Duh. I know that.

Capital ships are flown outside high sec.

Do you want me to copy paste that into a hundred emails to you in game so that you finally stop misquoting me and acknowledge that I know this simple fact? I will. Don’t call that bluff.

■■■■■■■ hell, dude. I do know how to play this game.

Stop misquoting me.

I didnt say high sec has the most expensive ships.

That is not what I said. Stop misquoting me.

I said that people tend to fly cheap ships outside null. People tend to choose Ventures over Hulks in null. That is what I said.

I also practice what I preach. I’ll jump into a clone with no implants and grab a frigate before going into Null. ■■■■! I posted a whole series of screenshots of me doing just that. You saw them. So what the hell is wrong with you?

And that’s the point where you are wrong.

People fly cheap and expensive ships in null. My own exhumers have ORE miners. As long as I pay attention and do not go AFK while mining I can save those ships easily, which makes it a waste of time to use cheap Ventures.

You keep implying that people outside HS fly cheaper ships than in HS. In fact you implied in the same post you just made that people in NS mine in Ventures rather than Exhumers:

Which is what is wrong.

Nothing in your posting history leads anyone to believe this statement.

You have a fundamental lack of understanding about this game that is clear to anyone.

How dare you! He has an unkillable Orca and mines Veldspar in Highsec for 33 hours a weekend. And is NOT being ganked. That means he absolutely is at the top of the food chain!

That’s not true, though. People do not tend to choose ventures over hulks in null.

That’s a comically nonsensical thing to believe, a scenario that exists exclusively in your own imagination, and presumably is a projection of your own risk tolerance, which seems to hover right around “0”. The only way you can imagine mining in null is if you did it in a venture instead of a hulk, so that surely must be what people do because it’s what makes sense to you.

Ventures in null get used mainly for industrial cynos. This is a pretty big majority - somewhere around 2/3 - 3/4. The remainder are mostly used for huffing, which a hulk CAN do, but the yield benefits aren’t as attractive as they look on paper when you consider that you’re probably going to need to fly around and locate a gas site, slowboat the hulk over there, etc. If you have an 18,000 unit site right in your home system, it might be an attractive choice, but a 500 unit site 5 jumps away? No thanks.

If you see a standard mining laser on a venture in null, you’re probably looking at a daytripping newbie (and good for them for getting out there and trying things) - not exactly representative of What People Do In Null.

”Use a venture instead of a hulk” is not a nullsec player’s approach to risk management in null, it’s a high sec player’s approach to risk management in null.

Nobody cares, dude. You’re of the belief that people telling you to leave high sec is some sort of challenge. You’re not being triple-dog-dared to let go of Concord’s apron strings and dip your toe into the big kid’s pool for a sightseeing adventure.

They were suggesting that you do that because that’s where the money is. Flying out to null in a covops, doing literally nothing, and then saying, “See? I did it, I’m not skurred!” is completely missing the point.

You seem to think everyone cares about how you play, but that isn’t the case. If you want to sit in highsec for your entire Eve career, you’re welcome to do that.

The only reason people argue with you is because instead of just saying, “Yes, I wish to sit in high sec forever, it is my comfort zone,” you post a deluge of misinformation in an effort to excuse a decision that doesn’t need an excuse.

Back when I was null i used procurers of course this was 2017 2018

LOL

Dude, you got in a cloaky ship and flew out to the system I last lost a ship in because you ignorantly thought that was something that would show me up.

You rolled up your windows, locked the doors to the car, and drove through the ghetto as fast as you could, all to show how not scared of the ghetto you are. That’s not practicing what you preach, troll.

I never intended to attack you. I never claimed that at all. Nullbears love to misquote people apparently. Attacking you wasn’t worth the effort. You’re not important enough to me. I had no intention of fighting anyone when I went down there.

Right. You flew a covops all the way out to almost the edge of the galaxy, and posted screenshots to brag about it like you accomplished something grand.

Sure, I misread that. Whatever props up your delusions.

Yep. Sure did. And made it back. Pacifiers are dirt cheap. I could buy a fleet of them.

Since they’re so very cheap for you, you should donate a few dozen to my trust fund.

Aren’t you in null sec?

Edit.. oh wow. It’s been a year since I bought it. I’d forgotten the cost. Still it’s a few hours work to pay off another. It’s time to give T5 Abyssals a try.

Why do you guys make it personal? Eve’s community is a strange crowd..

Essentially, I just want to get the point across that some mining content should be good for solo players also, not just for multiboxers & fleets. We have LS gas suitable for expedition frigs & ventures, we need some ore anoms too. Variety is spice of life.

It is. Wormhole daytripping is your friend. Either huff gas, get Gneiss or use the connections to sneak into null or Pochven for even more valuable stuff. You also find Dark Ochre deposits, rare A0 Star deposits etc pp. Be fast, be bold, be flexible. Thats your advantage as a solo player. You don’t need to have easy access to everything if you aren’t willing to even bring some guns and fight for it.

Nope. These ore sites all spawn NPC rats that will wreck a day tripping Prospect & Endurance, forcing you to ditch as soon as they incoming. I don’t even mind that for regular anoms, but ones where I have to probe down myself? Feels bad man.

(As compared to relic & data sites, or LS gas, you scan it, it’s yours until hostile players show up)

Bring a friend/alt with a BC or HAC, clear the rats, and keep mining.

This isn’t difficult to figure out.

If you’re going to run away at the first sign of risk, then you don’t deserve the payout.

But then they cant be solo if they have to bring someone.

edit: /sarc

Sure they can.

I play solo a lot, I just have a team of alts to help me out, but it’s still me.

For context I was being sarcastic

That’s @Aiko_Danuja joke. Don’t steal it from her.

I never said it was unkillable. I said it’s not cost effective to do so. Don’t hate me because I know how to fit a high sec Orca.

Besides. Running T4 Abyssal sites is far more lucrative than mining moon ore on the weekends. T5? Even more so. I’m not yet ready for T6. Massive high sec ISK
