Devblog: Skills On Demand - Changes Coming To The Skill System!

As a new/ returning pilot, THANK YOU!!!
I played for a few days 5 years ago, so I am essentially new, but yes, not knowing that you have to purchase skill books, then use the books, I am sure is frustrating.

The rise of the new capsuleers.

I think this is a pretty good idea for new characters, small changes like this will help new people.

Every new player is placed into the “Rookie Help” channel by default. Asking must be really hard in 2019. They might get offended by the answer.

__Thank You __ to @CCP_Falcon, @CCP_Affinity, and all of the CSM members. It’s nice to see all of you helping provide transparency and some clarifications. Especially given that you’re doing so among what I’m sure will be a sea of complaining and “that’s a terrible idea you should have done this instead”-type posts.

Keep up the awesome work, and thanks for taking your valuable time to participate in the thread. I don’t think there’s enough appreciation shown when you do wade (dangerously) into these forums.

Yeaaaaah, have you seen the ‘rookie help’ channels? They’re about as helpful as posting ‘I have a cranio-rectal inversion, fc wat do?’ to /r/EVE.

A chance to catch up 16 old players, even for a tiny bit.
I’m looking forward which skills would CCP categorize as “Core Skill” and “Secondary Skill”, and which of them are going to be “purchasable by ISK”.

CCPlease.

With that? sure. Send me 20B and the Jangar system is yours, i prepare the paperwork.

Wouldn’t it be better to introduce the mechanic in such a way that it pulls the cheapest player owned contract/sell order off of the market?

I live in the rookie help chat. we do the best we can as long as the trolls do not decide that it is time to derail it.

Now on the topic at hand? Yeah I read most of this thread and all of the post that spawned it and my gut reaction is ‘OK’. Yes I would like to see what they mean exactly by core skills but I have a damn good idea what the answer will be and yeah, I am OK with it. Yes it will be a boon to null sec alt creation . . . so? Has it been too difficult so far and thus prevented the creation of said alts?

It is a quality of life thing, not training wheels asking eve too easy for any thinking man or woman. It is a minor change and one I will likely not notice, a year from now.

I try to buy in duplicate. You know the old saying don’t fly what you can’t afford to lose.

So i buy 2 or three of a ship and its fitting, when I can afford to. Keep the back ups for when i blow up.

I fink yoo misspelt ‘ship’. :parrotmustache:

Loops I think i did too!

Good idea, but you should really look into revamping the market entirely
changes are needed. Modifying times for sell/buy needs to be longer. Robo-marketers are ruining the “free” market. How come we can never see who we are buying from or selling to? We need this option
 we need corp/alliance stores
 we need Jita fixed
 like now.

I would like the ability to reference another players skills in the ship designer. This would help with making fits for
new players

Personally i still hold opinion that removing of Learning Skills removed some strategy from this game and replaced with nothing.
The strategy element was (like if this is not obvious?):

  • spend some time to Learning Skills and then collect SP faster (result: more SP in far future)
  • ignore Learning Skills and get whatever skill you want sooner (result: less SP collected for long period of time).

Nothing really different from any other choice in this game isn’t it? Nothing really special? But some people could not handle this. They needed this choice removed.

For comparison i used to make a skill plan for like 2-3 months in EvEMon, then inject any amount of Learning Skills to make it faster. Viola! The most complex problem in the World solved!
Yes, as result i had lvl4 on each Learning Skill by time of removing it but i never sit docked for months waiting for Learning Skills to finish before training needed skills. © The most popular argument for removal of Learning Skills.

So yes, Solstice_Project is right when he talks about turning the game towards dumber players.

Please consider adding support for remote injection of skill books, including “unusual” ones that won’t be available through the new system. This would be analogous to how remote injection is already supported for skill injectors.

The current requirement to fly or jump clone to a system that sells those books presents an impediment to gameplay that is undesirable – both for players and for CCP.

You are able to see that detail under the wallet transaction.

You need to learn to use the market and wallet windows before asking for modifications
and corp/alliance “stores” already exist: it’s called contracts. Coming from a 2006 char, your post is ludicrous.
