Devblog: Skills On Demand - Changes Coming To The Skill System!

Well they still have to think a little bit right?
EVE is a difficult game and we need new players, which stay inside the community.
I do think those small and tiny quality improvements can help a new bro with its core skills.
At the end of the day it is still your own skill decision.

I really donā€™t understand how this system is so much easier than the old one.

Were core skills not always npc seeded in rookie systems? If not, then maybe they should be?

If I understand the dev blog correctly, we charge newbies extra for using the new skill feature, instead of just teaching them about the market?

Making things easier for newbies, would be to just have core skills injected in the character with no need for them to buy the skills.

So they can bankroll the markup in Jita, too, right?

There is a benefit of being able to simply train from the skill page. It reduces confusion as to what is needed and makes it seem less like a chore to move forward. Anything that improves early gameplay is a good idea in my opinion. I think this should be limited to what many would consider the core skillset, maybe even core faction skills so that way the remainder of the skill book market is still strong and thriving. After all, it would make sense for an Amarr pilot to have access to an Amarr library of Amarrā€™s entry-level platforms. Accessing skills to allow them to fly, say, up to cruisers (for a solid mark-up, Iā€™m thinking 50-200%) and the skills needed to fly them would make sense for on-demand training, so long as a few skill books are still provided during the tutorial with an explanation that not all books may be immediately available in local space. It could even be approached in that manner, that the on-demand would be from the Faction (Library/Conservatorium/Temple/Repository) and made available to capsuleers so long as they pay an ā€œadministration feeā€ that is visible as a separate cost to drive home that you could get it for less by flying to X.

Oh hey, hereā€™s some actual constructive criticism. I may be shouting into the wind here but might as well try:

Perhaps put a line in the UI for character-sheet skill purchase saying ā€œBuy now, or acquire the book at X isk from the market: [open market for teledildonics skill]ā€. Something like that.

For those reading, this is an example. Donā€™t read into it too deeply. You might have a conniption.

I donā€™t care about titan skillbooks priceā€¦at all. I already have gazillions of ISK. I just want @CCP_Falcon to help me understand that how it is unfair(as it is claimed in the dev blog) for new players to go to faction schools/trade hubs and buy skill books?

They are perfectly logical things to think because these systems and close nearby systems hold the introduction missions and activities into EVE where EVE EXPLAINS important things to YOU.

Ah yeah. Cant wait to buy my core skills 90000000000% over regional avarage because of market manipulation.

OR do 5 jumps and buy them off market for the regular price.

Totally not gonna confuse new players into buying skills that costs 100k isk for 15 milion. Because ofc they didnt learn that they can buy skills from the market as they have a button for it from the start. Let the scamming of newbie ascend to new tiers.

I would say the skill+attribute system is far more confusing than this for a new player, but whatever, if this helps people to get into the game better, Iā€™m all for it.

Yeah, you want more people playing this game.

I want that too.

The difference between us is that I care about the quality of a person, because Iā€™m a smart person. You apparently arenā€™t. Yes, smart people care about this, dumb people donā€™t. Seriously.

You wouldnā€™t care if a million degenerates joined this game, because youā€™re apparently incapable of understanding that people arenā€™t equal and that more stupid people donā€™t actually create a better environment for everyone.

You also completely fail to address anything I wrote in my post, further underlining that youā€™re absolutely incapable of actually contributing anything intelligent at all. You just scream for CCP, because you eat their propaganda.

Youā€™re out of your league.
Talk to your dummy friends instead.

As I pulled up the devblog from the link on the launcher, however, I thought this was going to be about a change to the attributes/bonus-vs-yearly remap system thatā€™s been rumored for years now.

But noā€¦ but you know, speaking of needless hurdles.

This isnā€™t mutually exclusive with character sheet skill training.

I would love if a million degenerates started playing. Are you insane?

The more stupid people who play, the more stupid people we get to kill. What exactly is the problem with removing barriers to entry?

False equivalence.

Meh, these books are already sold in few places, together with other books, and you can buy everyone of them in Jita.

But its some QOL improvement I suppose.

This!

Uhhhh, what?

The markup will be on the NPC price. So it wonā€™t be able to be manipulated.

You need to look at the sum of all these little changes, instead of just the little changes. They introduce them one by one, over years, so people forget that there were plenty of other changes before, who - like this one - made the world a tiny bit worse.

Itā€™s a lot like real-life politics in that regard.

Never ever just take a single change on its own, always also consider both the past, present and future. This is not a quality improvement at all. It is an insult to people who arenā€™t too stupid to grasp what apparently/supposedly many canā€™t.

EVE is a cerebral game which requires thinking and planning. If you remove those then how different EVE will be than WoW?

I have a tinfoil hat I can sell you. At NPC price.
