There use to be little pockets of space scenes like that in K-space at various locations near planets and gates, just on a smaller scale. Also some mission sites were like that too but on a larger scale,.
I was keeping notes on their locations until CCP did the whole Eve Space / Nebula revamp and removed them from the game.
Might help to send him an Eve Mail message in-game.
