GM Week 2025 - SKINR Competition

GM Week is upon us, and this year we will be running a SKINR competition!

It is time to roll up your sleeves and fire up your Ship SKINR Tools. The coooooooolest SKINS will, of course, win some rewards, and who knows, maybe some runner-ups may get some PLEX from the PLEX Pelican in space mail to sequence the awesome SKINS they’ve created. As you can probably tell, you don’t need to sequence the SKIN, simply create it and save it in your SKIN library, and that is enough to enter the competition. Remember, no SKIN is cool without a lit name.

To get you underway, we ran an internal CCP SKINR competition recently, and we had some pretty cool results. CCP Lumi, CCP Zond 3, and CCP Zelus had the top 3 SKINS, and you can see them below in no particular order.

To participate, post a screenshot of the SKIN in this forum thread (sequenced or unsequenced), and by doing so, your submission will enter the competition!

Here are some general rules:

• Only 1 submission per player

• My fellow GMs and I will vote on the top 10 SKINs created

• The Community (you) will vote which of these 10 SKINS deserves to be in the top 3

• Be careful with the randomize SKIN button; we made it

• We will not provide specific details on how we judge SKINS or what we look for; it’s up to you to make the most creative/photogenic SKIN possible.

• Please do not create a SKIN that violates our Terms of Service (I will be forced to delete it, which I don’t want to do)

• Submissions close this Sunday (28th Sept) at midnight GMT.

Very hard to decide, I have many designs that I love. But I went with this because it’s among my favorites.

Here’s my entry:

The iridescent look is difficult to see on still images since it changes with camera angle, so here’s a video - the blue shifts between turqoise and light blue, while the pink gains hints of purple and a tempered metal look around the edges of the ship’s ‘eye’.

With most of the Tootsie’s skins, I do a color swap, but for this I decided I’d take a less is more approach, so I just did an “eye”, iris and all. I wanted to see if I could make “it” blink.

This is a transition shot for the color change:

At full distance the color change is full on orange, this shot is…in between, so the orange is not as pronounced.

As with all my Tootsie’s skins, you use your scroll wheel for the effect.

Given Borderlands 4 dropped recently, I think it’s fitting that I’ll share my “Pandora Sunrise” Golem skin. The main body color can go from pastel blue all the way to bright orange, depending on the local light and the angle you’re viewing it.

Euphemism (Paladin)

In this design, I made use of color choice and the stroke-like pattern to give the Paladin a more unruly look while preserving its imperial grandeur. The silver rose is a more decadent analogue to the classic Amarr gold. A slight touch of gold remains to ensure continuity over metallic surfaces and adorn the hull with something of its original identity.

Also available on Apocalypse, Apocalypse Navy Issue and Revelation hulls.

One SKIN per player is a bit limited for the few crazy ideas that cross my mind, so is hard for me to choose something between my designs. I’m not great compared with my peers but taste is subjetive so maybe I can get a surprise here. And given that how I will end overthinking, I choose this one.

This SKIN was made by the reason of a weekly contest in a Discord Channel in which we were limited to use a specific pattern as one of the slots. Playing with geometry of ships could led to interesting figures and shapes, if you’re able to see them.

The skin has moving parts on the back and with the inside of the circle moving the blue lights gives a effect of multiple faces watching, and waiting for the right moment.
