2. Specifically restricted content.
EVE Online holds ESRB Teen and PEGI 12 ratings. All content posted to the EVE Online forums must be teen rated.
In addition to this, the EVE Online forums are not for discussion of real life current affairs, news, politics or religion. Discussion should revolve around EVE Online and its community.
For these reasons, specific content is prohibited on the EVE Online forums. These are:
- Pornography
- Profanity
- Real Money Trading (RMT)
- Discussion of Warnings & Bans
- Discussion of Moderation
- Private communications with CCP
- In-Game Bugs & Exploits
- Real World Religion
- Real World Politics
- Content that distorts the forum layout
3. Post constructively.
Negative feedback can be very useful to further improve EVE Online if it is presented in a civil and factual manner. All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved. Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be. Users are also reminded that posting with a lack of content also constitutes non-constructive posting.
4. Abuse of the forum tools is prohibited.
The EVE Online forums provide several additional plugins and tools, including the ability to embed videos and images, along with additional emojis and polling software. Use of these tools to troll, flame, post inappropriate content or otherwise break the forum rules is prohibited.
5. Re-opening locked topics is prohibited.
Recreating or re-opening a thread that has been closed by a moderator is prohibited. Threads that have been closed by a moderator have been closed for the benefit of the community. Re-opening a locked thread will result in its removal.
6. Please use the correct language when posting.
The default language for posting on the EVE Online forums is English. Please use English when posting as a courtesy to other forum users, unless the forum channel is specifically created for discussion in another language as part of our localized language specific sub-forums.
7. Abuse of CCP employees and ISD volunteers is prohibited.
CCP operate a zero-tolerance policy on abuse of CCP employees and ISD volunteers. This includes but is not limited to personal attacks, trolling, “outing” of CCP employee or ISD volunteer player identities, and the use of any former player identities when referring to these parties.
Our forums are designed to be a place where players and developers can exchange ideas in a polite and friendly manner for the betterment of EVE Online. Players who attack or abuse employees of CCP, or ISD volunteers, will be permanently banned from the EVE Online forums across all their accounts with no recourse, and may also be subject to action against their game accounts.
8. Individual forum sections may have additional rules.
Please check the sticky threads at the top of each individual forum section before posting there. Some forum sections have specific rules for their purpose, such as sales rules in the Marketplace and In/Out Of Character rules in the Fiction Portal.
9. Use of kill reports & chatlogs to troll & flame is prohibited.
Pilots are permitted to post chatlogs and kill reports on the EVE Online forums if it adds to and is relevant to ongoing discussion, however this may not be done to flame, troll, insult, shame or bait other corporations other pilots.
Reprimand Policy
The EVE Universe Community Team operates a tiered system of warnings and associated forum suspensions of various lengths, depending on the severity and number of transgressions of the rules. The list below shows the structure of our warning and suspension policy. Please be aware that if a transgression of the rules is severe enough, this policy may be bypassed completely in favor of permanent revocation of a forum user’s posting privileges.
- 1ST OFFENCE – WARNING
- 2ND OFFENCE – 14 DAY SUSPENSION
- 3RD OFFENCE – 30 DAY SUSPENSION
- 4TH OFFENCE – 90 DAY SUSPENSION
- 5TH OFFENCE – 180 DAY SUSPENSION
- 6+ OFFENCES – 180 DAY SUSPENSION
Coupled with this listing, leniency may be applied when issuing a posting suspension if a period of more than 12 months has elapsed between the current warning and any previous action. This leniency lies entirely at the discretion of the EVE Universe Community Team.
Receiving Warnings & Suspensions
Warnings and suspensions are delivered on per character rather than a per account basis, to allow for a little leniency and prevent pilots from being completely locked out of discussion on the forums. However, if CCP deems that a pilot is abusing this fact, reprimand will be swift and harsh.
Given that pilots may not check their emails regularly, forum warnings will be delivered via forum PM. Only CCP Staff can send forum PMs, and pilots who break the forum rules and need to be reprimanded will be notified via this method of contact.
Similarly, if a pilot suspended from the forums, they will still be able to log in and view the forums and PMs received from CCP staff explaining the reasoning, but will be unable to post.
A permanent ban from the forums will prevent the ability to log into the forums at all.
Suspension & Appeals
Appeals can be made by contacting communityteam@ccpgames.com from the verified email address connected to your EVE Online account(s). Full justification for the behavior that caused the issue of the reprimand, plus a solid case for the reinstatement of forum posting privileges must be presented.
The EVE Universe Community Team will decide based on the case presented. If this decision is unsatisfactory for the user, then they may request escalation, where a final decision will be made by the EVE Universe Community Manager.
Permanent Banning & Appeals
Permanent bans are rarely issued, and only in severe cases where a forum user has grossly violated the rules or has demonstrated a proven track record of disruptive and abusive behavior over the course of multiple months, after repeated warnings and temporary suspensions.
As with warnings and temporary suspensions, permanent bans are issued on a per character basis. Permanent bans are not eligible for general appeal after a given length of time.
Those who have been permanently banned from the forums may however appeal if they feel they have been banned unfairly, or in error.
Decisions regarding permanent forum bans lie solely with the EVE Universe Community Team, and any decisions made regarding their issue are final.
Complaints
If any pilot has an issue or complaint regarding the conduct of our forum moderators, the EVE Universe Community Team can be reached by contacting communityteam@ccpgames.com from the verified email address connected to their EVE Online account(s).
