Joint call for cooperation to the Minmatar Republic and Gallente Federation RE Drifter wormholes!

Depicted: A wing of Minmatar Hounds en route to a summit at the Battle of Colelie Memorial station

To the warriors of our people, and the great leaders of the Tribal Assembly,
I am calling on you in order to adress the pain of an old ally, and the needs of the Republic. Through blood, sweat and hard work we have evicted the Drifters from the Liberated Barbican and seized their structure for our own.

Though the governments of the Amarr, Caldari, and the Triglavians have shown a reluctance to share their findings, I want to urge our government to open up the Liberated Barbican to Federation scientists and researchers, in exchange for access to their discoveries, and their assistance in defending the wormhole and its related facilities, should the Drifter threat return.

Though their might has contributed greatly to the safety and security of New Eden, our oldest allies now find themselves without a Wormhole of their own, or Drifter technology to study, and their people sit in anxiety as their greatest rivals, the Caldari, now have access to technology they lack.

How is this our problem? It is not.
It is an opportunity.

An opportunity to rekindle a friendship that has long held back the tide of tyranny in this galaxy.

An opportunity to rekindle their commitment to the Matari cause.

And an opportunity to repay an old debt of honour, as the federation did much for the Matari people in the early days of the rebellion and long after.

This cooperation would make our own advances stronger. The Federation’s grasp of science and technology is second to none. Their insights will add to our own, no doubt. And their fleets remain formidable, and a welcome asset both within the Barbican and without.

The drifter crisis will not be the last challenge our people face. When the next crisis hits, we could use allies by our side as much as the Federation can.

Let us use this opportunity to make one.

And to those of the Federation who read this far, I urge you to support this call.
You need not yield the findings of these structures to the other Empires. You, too, can benefit from the discoveries that lay within.

Consider the relief your voters will feel when they know the Federation is not lagging behind.
And consider the massive bloc of Matari citizens in the Federation who would surely be overjoyed to see ties between our governments warm again.

We both have an opportunity here. Let us seize it.

Signed,
Isha Vuld (Ushra’khan)

Just a reminder that the Gallente Federation has failed to resume it’s elections as promised, I would consider them as an illegitimate regime until they restore their election process.

I stand by the idea that this opportunity represents a chance to rebuild something vital.

The Gallente supported our cause and helped us in ways that were crucial to the survival of our people in the past. They were there when it mattered.

I’m sure we can look the grievances of the recent past. To the Gallente citizens I’d like to say, you are not alone in these hard times and I want to remember my kin that with collaboration we can archive strength for our Tribes. Freedom is the idea that ties us with the Gallente. They can help us, if we allow it and we can help them in return.

This will be a small step towards a better future for both our people.

Tomorrow they will be gone"
We should be like the wind and not carry resent through the night.

I verify my signature and support for this petition.

Regardless of the past or our personal feelings towards the matter, most peoples that are left behind in the wake of unmatched technological progress are made victims of it if the issue is not immediately rectified. We saw this in the creation of Pochven, with the murder of billions. We saw this on Turnur, an entire planet made victim of a scathing sun in a reckless, runaway experiment with technology that we were still actively trying to understand. If what we have left of our records are to be believed, once, this happened to the entire Matari people, with devastation on a scale that we are still reeling and trying to recover from centuries later. How many more times must we learn this lesson before it finally sinks in and we actually change our course to avert this catastrophic trajectory?

Say what you will of the Federation or its current president. There are criticisms to be made, many of them grave, serious, and true. However, I believe these pale in comparison when juxtaposed against the larger historical trend that we may be on the cusp of repeating if we do not move to correct this error. I will not trade my personal feelings on the recent actions (and inactions) of the Federation government for the risk that this situation poses to its people. I refuse to stand by and watch, knowing that my inaction may eventually contribute, even if only in some small way, to an avoidable calamity. All of this is not even touching the fact that a sizable portion of our kin live within Federation jurisdiction.

On a more personal note;

I went into this career knowing that I would devote my lives and my means to restoring the full freedom of my people, and combating the slave trade wherever it may exist. Originally, the ends of my turrets were aimed solely at Amarrian entities, but eventually, my scope broadened. We were deployed as a corp down to Wicked Creek and Detorid on behalf of the DammFam alliance, with the goal of fighting Cartel presence in hopes that it would deter them from bringing their activities into empire space, and with the aim of securing more peaceful lives for the people living in both empire and null space.

During our time down there, we saw some of the worst that the cartel had to offer- slave trafficking regardless of nationality, illegal fighting rings where people of all races were made to fight to the death for entertainment, and more that I will refrain from commenting on in this space. We did our utmost to curb and stop these activities wherever and whenever we came across them, but our suppression efforts came to a grinding halt when we were faced with a much larger external threat. Facing invasion and potential total destruction, both the Gallente and Matari militias, among with many, many other groups- sometimes at stark odds with one another on a normal day- heeded our calls for help not once, but twice, and came together when we were at our most vulnerable. It opened my eyes to what multinational human unity looks like for the first time since the war against Triglav. Thanks to them, we were able to continue on with our important work for a time. I won’t let that selfless answer to duty go unvoiced, or unreturned. This, in some small way, is my effort to repay them for all that they did for us in that time, and repay the honor of the Gallente pilots specifically in kind.

A common rallying cry for those of us in the militia, and the Matari at large is this; “Never again another long night!” We know that pain. Many of us clutch it in our chests and use it to drive ourselves forward every time that we undock to push back against the Amarrian regime, or Angel insurgency, every time we do battle with Blood Raiders or Sansha to keep them out of our space, our homes, and our communities. We know the ever present weight of lost loved ones to the yoke of slavery and violence better than most, and we carry them with us in everything we do.

Why we would ever risk subjecting another people to the same or similar fate, inadvertently or otherwise, is beyond me. That is not who we are, that is not our way, and that is not what I signed up for.

I call on our government, our delegates, and Edencom to hold fast and true to their word. Citing our delegate from the recent Drifter Summit; “All technology should be shared openly, with everyone, whether or not they made it into the Hives themselves or not.”

I have to express my disappointment in such a myopic and ill-informed initiative.
While I am confident that your intentions are pure, this call for ‘co-operation’ is reflective of a fundamental misunderstanding of the contemporary Federation and how it conducts itself in both domestic and international affairs.

There is no ‘friendship’ to be rekindled here. Your Republic was an ablative vassal against the Empire first, and a liability to be cut off through the Treaty of Pashanai second. If you think the Federation is interested in anything but exploiting the hard work of the Republic, then I sincerely urge you to re-examine all recent history between your nations, and the conduct of the Federation in the international stage ever since Aguard took power.

I would hope that the Republic dismisses the naive calls for open sharing of their findings with the public, or the Federation, and instead sees merit in pursuing a secure joint research programme operated by those currently occupying and studying the Drifter hives.

The Treaty of Pashanai was clearly a mistake signed by an autocratic president who’s term is likely coming to an end now. It was also a desperate response to the Treaty of Airaken that was not very successful in defining rules for our technological collaboration between the State and the Republic.

I’m pretty sure this topic will cause heated debates during the upcoming elections and we will see how the Federation reacts to deal with this. The Tribal council also needs to decide on the matter.

I think it’s more naive to consider working with the Amarr and Triglavians as if they would share any significant scientific achievements. I would welcome a collaboration between the Caldari State and our Republic but that choice is above my influence. I would sign a similar proposal for them if I find one.

Thank you, sincerely, for your advocacy and collaborative spirit. Those of us supporting the initiative from the Federation side are optimistic that we can find ways to contribute meaningfully and honor the tremendous efforts of the Republic thusfar.

I oppose the call to provide charity to those who turned their back on not just us, but also on the very ideals that their society was built upon.
