Looking for a humanitarian corp - any suggestions?

(Xin Kanenald) #1

Hey all, I had originally posted this in the Q&A forum but someone helpfully suggested it might be better placed here.

I’m a relatively new EVE player. Have been playing seriously for about a month now, totally solo, just building up ISK and stats through mining.

I’m thinking now about joining a corp. Having researched it a little, I would like to join a humanitarian corp if possible, one which sought to do good in New Eden. Something like the Sisters of EVE (if they weren’t NPC) or Signal Cartel, only perhaps more focused on mining or salvage or something like that. PvP does not appeal to me at all right now.

Would anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

B-but that’s not how eve works!

U might need to find humanitarian role playing corp.
Not sure if any still exist.
CVA still role playing like bringing peace and order into providence in a very limited degree.
Maybe it is the few possible choice

Look at , or possibly Eve Uni.

Define “humanitarian corp” first.

Blowing up peoples internet space ships is the most humanitarian act you can partake in while in EVE.

It provides them the opportunity to improve their skills by reflecting on ways the could have avoided getting exploded. It also provides opportunities for industrial pilots to sell more internet spaceships to feed their internet children.

Think of the children!

Honestly, if you’re not after PVP you’re really playing the wrong game, everything in this game is fueled by PVP, even ship building to help other people destroy other ships, it’s a non existant thing in this game now, even mining is to do the same thing by extension, it’s like being the guy who builds guns and adhores violence, doesn’t work. I’d Strongly suggest giving PVP a try, you don’t go after miners but go after actual fights with other PVP’rs and it’s light hearted, thats about as Humanitarian as you’ll get, not being a ganker/targetting easy frags.

I guess I’m thinking of something along the line of what SOE do or their Food Relief Corp does - but both are NPC, of course.

I did try Signal Cartel and although they’re a superb corp, and have a pacifistic vibe, they’re all about exploration and that’s not something that appeals to me either.

I’ve been playing two months and enjoy mining and running missions for the SOE (sometimes with a bit of ratting thrown in via the ol’ drones) and, I guess, would like a corp that caters to something in the way of mining or hauling with a humanitarian vibe about it.

I’m not morally opposed to PvP or anything like that. It’s just a game, after all  But we’re all roleplaying to some degree and I guess part of my experience is to try to bring this vibe into the game. It’s just about finding a good corp match to enhance such.

As I understand you do not like PvP. Simply speaking PvE and non-PvP activities in EVE are:

  • mission running
  • incursion running
  • ratting
  • mining
  • invention
  • industry
  • trade
  • hauling
  • exploration
  • scanning

Those activities you can do to some extent in high-sec, low-sec and null-sec and W-space. There are some corps specializing in doing those non-PvP things, however role-playing (similar to WoW RP servers) is rather rare in EVE. Most often you can find mining corps in high and null sec, I believe. Next you can look for mission and incursion running corps/groups. To rat effectively you’d have to join null-sec corp (rental corp for instance) with access to sov null star systems with respectable amount of anomalies. The good thing is you can start ratting in VNI and earn 15-20 mil ISK per tick even being AFK. There is also possibility that you join large alliance running so called Special Interest Groups you could apply to. Hauling and especially JF service, if you train skills required, is also viable option even for a single player but a bit boring. Industry, invention & trade - I am not very familiar with those, sorry.

However please take into account that non-PvP players are at the bottom of EVE’s food chain. They are permanently hunted by many categories of PVP-ers (gankers, campers, hotdroppers, roamers etc.) being considered easy and often juicy targets.

(Xin Kanenald) #15

@Altair_Taurus Thanks for your thoughts - and yeah, there are some great hauling and industry corps out there. Push Industries is a relatively new one on the go, I think, that seem to be working really well.

I’ll try going solo for a while, even to get some missions under my belt, and then see where I stand after that. Don’t want to rush into another corp only to leave it quickly like the last one I joined.

I invite you to take a look at what we might offer you at Ishukone-Raata. While small in comparison to some organizations here, we have a long history of humanitarian efforts that start at the Malkalen Disaster, and continue in Syndicate with our SSI-II (Syndicate Stability Initiative) to this day.

Our Ishukone-Raata Industrial Partnership [I-RIP] formation has been approved by our Directorship and is actively looking for brave, profit driven pilots looking to reach out into the frontier and conduct mining operations alongside like-minded individuals.

Whatever your choice, we at Ishukone-Raata wish you luck!
