MARKET

What do the things in price history mean?
Quantity and orders, what do they mean?

As I understand it:

  • Quantity is the number of units traded in per day to buy orders and from sell orders.
  • Orders is the number of orders completed (might be raised) per day.

The former is the one that interests me since it is a good indication of the likely turnover I will see on products.

Commodity markets like Eve tend to be cyclical. I use the price history to decide what to build and where to price it - the chart will show period and amplitude you can expect for the cycle. I build stuff that will be profitable mid-cycle, position my order in the top half and let the market come to me.
