You miss the bit where the PLEX that the P2W person buys is the same PLEX that the grinder uses to PLEX their account with and get Eve ‘free’. It is a win-win scenario…not one where one is a winner and the other a loser.
That’s the thing. You can’t assume the “rich” person would win. This tells me you got 0 EVE experience LOL.

Why didn’t he automatically win? He’s rich. Had all the bling. Yet he died screaming in space and it hurt him so much he cried nerf on the forums.
Cept in EVE. All it does is save you time. I’d even argue if you’re a brand new player, buying that time may actually work against you. Because, like you, they believe it buys them an advantage. It doesn’t.
What it does instead is give them a false sense of superiority. Then that stupidity leads them to die screaming in space, then usually cry nerf on whatever killed him them because they don’t understand game mechanics.

Please try to have open mind. I don’t say plex is entirely wrong, but it is not fair if someone pays subscription and there are still people who can be more successful only because of more money.
On the other side, this game is kind of special, where I don’t see p2w (plex) as pure evil.
It would really be to grind if you want to be Master of universe / Princess of known space.
It depends what devs and player base want from this game.

the year is 2009. maybe 2010 ish. some guy I came over ot this game from another game (guild said lets try eve, a few of us hopped over) was young, single and had a nice irl job.
Didn’t like eve’s training. the good old days. learning skills to learn the skills you needed to fly lol. NGL…I don’t miss learning skills.
And plexed to buy a HAC capable char from somewhere. eve in the old days had char buying too.
And the dude blew up many HAC’s. many many many HACs. The sp’s of the bought char did not magically get wins. they were flying like an eve noob jsut like we were. he was dying as much as we were. We just had that “welcome to eve”
learning session cheaper in t1 cruisers.
