Thank you. And so should everyone else. The fairness is dictated by the developers via New Eden’s setting. Conflict and emotion is the result, conflict because of combat pvp, emotion because that is what we come here to find in a game. Emotions also clash, that’s part of New Eden. Can’t handle the emotions, find an “emotion friendlier” game, perhaps with a space hippie setting and pink ponies.

We do ? Meanwhile…back in reality…my 4 ganks so far :-

Gank 1 : Failed. Warped in short of target and ended up shooting the wrong one of the two Retrievers. D’oh. No kill…but I still get Concorded and have a kill right on me.

Gank 2 : Yay…success ! Kill right on me as well

Gank 3 : Yay…success ! Kill right on me as well.

Gank 4 : Failed. Target had cloaked alt that took us out. The rotter ! Only a mean, nasty, psychopathic person would bait gankers. Kill right on me as well.

I make that 50% Not bad for a noob ganker. Still managed to destroy more ISK worth than was lost. Even the pros do not get 100%

Note that I get a kill right on me even if the gank fails. So for the 2 failures in T2 cats that is 24m ISK lost for nothing. So every failed gank is actually a loss, and someone gets a free shot at me back.

Other forms of game play are closer to a 0% chance at least for a while. The fact your first try gave a 50% chance shows how easy it is for a ganker. Did you exploit concord as well as Safety does? That significantly increases their chances to near 100%. When i was receiving Safety training they showed me how to draw concord away and how it makes it easy.

I think what is poorly explained about the subject of ganking ‘risk’ is that ‘risk’ is a double ended thing, at least with respect to how I see the word actually used. Take 3 gumball machines as an example.

Machine #1 always takes a quarter and always gives you a gumball for it. Nobody is going to say you’re risking your quarter here.

Machine #2 sometimes will take your quarter, but always gives you a gumball. People will say you’re risking your quarter here since you may or may not lose it.

Machine #3 will always take your quarter, but will only sometimes give you a gumball. Again, people will say you’re risking your quarter because only sometimes will you receive something for it.

Ganking risk is like machine #3. The cost is paid, but the rewards are not guaranteed.
