What I mean is, it would be nice to hotkey DS to specific configurations. It’s a bit of a pain (and under pressure even prone to errors) when you have to manually always be using mouse to set up DS.
What I’d like is a situation where I could (for example):
Hit V – current DS layout SCAN
Hotkey - DS automatically shifts to (say) 1AU 360 deg
Hothey - DS automatically shifts to (say) 14AU 5deg
Or possibly just a single keypress to switch configuration and scan. So, I see FW plex 10AU away and I just keypress click my hotkey for max distance 5 deg scan
and the different scan key gets 360deg short scan
I’m sure there may even be other useful configurations, but these seem like the obvious ones.
Just like we have a hotkey to move the sliding scale for regular scanning, Angewoman.
One key that increases steps and the other that decreases.
Of course there is a small difference in that regular scanning has discrete steps while dscan has a near continuous scale for distance, but the hotkey could be set to change by for example 60 degrees or 5 AU per press.
I would like hotkeys for dscan settings too.
We’ve got hitkeys for dscan presets, hotkeys for regular scanning sizes but if we wish to change dacan settings we still have to fiddle with a mouse.
I think you have a very good suggestion. Well done. I can see it being super useful to lots of people. I personally would use such a feature frequently.
It is all just numbers ingame. The slider already moves by itself to a ‘preset’ position: It remembers the range and angle you selected last. If you log out and back in the slider jumps back to that position.
Some other elements already have a preset value too. For example if you right click on Orbit, or Keep at Range, or Warp To you can set a default value for each one. If you hit the respective shortcut key for those (or click on the onscreen buttons) it uses that saved ‘preset value’. Makes it very simply and useful.
They could easily do something similar for dscan, but extend it to more than just one preset. You can manually select a range and angle, then right-click and choose “Save as preset 1”. Change the range and angle, then right-click and choose “Save as Preset 2”. If the corresponding hotkey 1 or 2 is pressed is uses the preset values. I’m sure there are other options and different ways to do it also.
