I suggest a new ability for POS’s in HS where they are able to interact with a limited number of Agents (of your choosing) in the same system. A module would perhaps be the best choice on a certain type of POS/'s in order for the access to be obtained. Limited to HS, at least to begin with, as the benefits of access to LS/NS agents from a non visible POS are too great. LP store and Storyline Agents still limited to their respective stations.
I’m not against that idea. I’ve also thought it stupid that we cannot contact agents from any station at least within the same constellation. We’re supposed to be thousands of years in the future but we don’t even have video conferencing to contact NPCs… kinda lame
No. Lazy mechanics.
Well, there’s a few quests that you can accept and/or complete remotely (like in the SoE epic arc), but yeah, it can be annoying. Dock, undock, dock, undock, dock, undock. I don’t know the reason behind the design decision, and if it’s still valid 18 years later, but it’s terrible for pacing and feels like it only serves to waste the player’s time. It’s like making players go back to town every 5 minutes to get a new quest. It’s too much.
Personally, I’m not too thrilled about OP’s idea. I’d rather have the ability to interact with agents remotely (maybe up to 5 jumps, depending on skills or something). Of course, this would be a QoL improvement, but it would have other effects. So those would have to be considered. Fo example, it would increase mission runner isk efficiency (especially for blitzers, since a greater portion of their time is spent traveling). It would also increase the likelihood of targets flying around while carrying notable mission loot (anomic missions can drop faction loot, and others can drop stuff like implants). Of course, it would also incentivize omnitanks, which would reduce the chances of targets having resist holes.
I dunno. What I do know is that the current design seems like bad design.
I agree completely.
I don’t understand the thinking behind such mechanics. Why make someone go to a solar system just to agree to take up a mission??
It’s like recalling a submarine to Patuxent, Maryland just to give it new orders, it’s asinine.
I’m really sick of dumbing down the game masked under QoL changes…
Maybe simply ask CCP to pay everyone 100 mil per day since grinding is bothersome? It also would be QoL improvement.
Yes. Going to a agent personally is annoying. But it’s also balancing factor. Obviously its time sink but also forces people to travel thru chokepoints.
Think further than hisec. What about lvl 5 mission runners or null sec mission runners? With such change they could simply sit in deep safes and pull missions and be vulnerable only to combat probes. Which is almost 100% safety. Also applies to hisec an ganking.
In the end, market will adapt quickly. Prices of LP and possible loot will drop bringing income back to current levels. New meta, instead of blitzing. Would be enough blitzing alts to just pull missions without moving around
Just to note. Comparing game to RL is bad idea.
ps. Bring back old scanning mechanics.
Yes, I mentioned that it would have balance ramifications that would need to be considered -which I gave a few examples of.
I didn’t go through all of them, however, because I was casually discussing the topic, and not trying to make a serious proposal. In fact, I was mostly pointing out that the current design is bad -as was indicated by the last line of my post.
Also, I don’t understand what your recent hostility towards me is all about. Was I a jerk to you or something? If so, I apologize. I know I can get worked up and start being kind of aggressive sometimes.
Huh?
Apparently quoting someone makes post reply to that person. I just wanted to quote QoL bit and my post wasn’t addressed to you or anyone personally. It’s just my take on OP idea.
I think that’s a bit too much, also most of the “normal” missions you get are the same system or in a neighbouring sys so would actually make you take more time.
That’s definitely an overpowered benefit for having this ability outside of HS, which was reflected in my original post.
Nah theyre hostile to everyone. Must come with having Kitty in the name.
