But Salartarium is the best Cinematographer.

Need to fix up my Super 8. Had the gate widened to match the new Max8 standard, but the plastic film release gear in the Canon consumer models goes bad. Don’t want to pay 5k for a new Kodak and anything else on EBay would be a downgrade and would need repair in a while anyway.

@Salartarium Did you do a dash cam take? It looks good. Too bad your camera is having trouble, that really suck.
I used my dad’s old VHS Panasonic camera when I was 12 to learn how to take different kinds of shots but then we moved and it got broken, that was a major bummer. I have a digital camera now but it’s not the same thing.
Too bad your shot is in black and white, I could have given you Best Cinematography otherwise :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

This evening, after watching Mr. Musk’s Starship 6th flight test, I’m going to the far west.

I have some reels of Ektachrome, but I’ve lost the flash drives the scans were on. For some reason, Vision 3 doesn’t make sense to me. Not going to make prints and even if I’m not going to project it, I want to be able to view it with a loupe.

Stupid question: Why couldn’t you?

Vision 3 is a negative and can’t be viewed easily without someway to invert it though it is designed to be scanned. I think you can still get some handpacked carts of Agfachrome 200D and Provia 100f from a few shops. Interestingly Tri-X for motion pictures is positive.

Don’t know why you’d want to loupe the film when you can just scan it though.

There’s something fulfilling about inspecting your own handiwork and its imperfections in its raw form. That’s why when I shoot black and white I pay for real silver prints.

I’m no photographer but as opposed to what? Silver printed black and whites have been common since the 1800’s.

As opposed to photos printed with ink you get at Amazon, Shutterfly and Drug stores? Even a lot of film labs just use Epson photo printers instead of making real prints. I don’t know of a lab near me that does old school color printing.

I just finished watching Prometheus…
…AND IT DIDN’T MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME!
Why did that humanoid jumped off the waterfall at the beginning of the movie?
I had to bring in a sci-fi buff, who’s been immersed deeply in science fiction for the last several decades to explain it to me.

By the way, were The Deathless from Zarzakh inspired by that movie? They look quite similar. Is it like a crossover, just like they did with Doctor Who?

More than likely. Imagination isn’t everyone’s forte, it belongs to a chosen few :slightly_smiling_face:

By the way, I was ratting yesterday and got bored so I decided to download this flick.
It’s pretty good!
