Wow! That’s a huge privilege seeing Topol on stage. Lucky you! :slightly_smiling_face:

A song for the U.F.O. enthusiasts:

Don’t really go out to see plays anymore. Did get to see the original run of Wicked on Broadway. Was surprised to find out it became “Popular”.

…and now, for something completely different…

Low hanging fruit…

Pink Floyd - Money (1973)

…maybe a little more obscure…

Barrett Strong - Money (That’s what I want) (1959)

…into the local stuff…

Paco Ibañez - Don Dinero (1979, from a poem by Francisco de Quevedo)

Translated lyrics (without rhyme)

Mother, I humble myself to gold
He is my lover and my beloved
For he is so in love
He is always yellow
For, whether doubloon or simpleton
He does everything I want
A powerful gentleman
Is Don Dinero

He is born honorably in the Indies
Where the world accompanies him
He comes to die in Spain
And is buried in Genoa
And so, who brings him to my side
He is handsome even if he is fierce
A powerful gentleman
Is Don Dinero

He is gallant and he is like gold
His color is broken
A person of great value
As Christian as he is Moor
Who gives and takes away decorum
And breaks any law
A powerful knight
Is Don Dinero

His parents are principal
And he is of noble descent
Because in the veins of the East
All bloods are royal
And so, he is the one who makes equal
The duke and the rancher
A powerful gentleman
Is Don Dinero

For being important in dealings
And giving such good advice
In the houses of Old people
Cats protect him from cats*
And so he breaks modesty
And softens the most severe judge
A powerful gentleman
Is Don Dinero

I have never seen ungrateful ladies
To their liking and taste
Who, at the price of a doubloon
Make their faces cheap
And so he brags
From a leather purse
A powerful gentleman
Is Don Dinero

*the original poem makes a play on words: “gatos”, “cats” were both money bags and thieves who sneaked into houses rather than breaking in

…and a favorite of mine without the M word:

Depeche Mode - Everything counts (1983)

Because everything counts in large amounts, and the grabbing hands grab all for themselves after all.

I am sorry I should have clarified. I have seen a production of Fiddler On The Roof. Though I wish I had seen it with Topol on stage. Sadly, I was never so privileged. One of my regrets in life to be honest.

I enjoyed the experience and had a lot of fun. I was working as a stage hand/grip in a small community theater at the time in California. One of the actors invited me to go with him. A bunch of us of stage hands and actors shared the costs and took a bus over to LA. There was 20 of us. We had a ball. It is one of the few times when I was homeless. That I could forget about that and simply have fun.

Sadly no. I was living in a southern state at the time. I am retired and on fixed income. So my theater going days are sadly at an end. I love the theater.

I always loved working backstage where the real magic happens. I caught the bug when I was in 7th grade. When the catholic school I went to put on a small play. I was a stagehand. Found it so much fun that I volunteered the next year. And when I went to high school. I was first one to sign up to work backstage as a grip/stagehand.

Ah, no worries.
I, too, used to love theatre and wanted to go to many plays, but I only been to way fewer than I’d like.

The lyrics and the audio sound very poetic.

What can I say? People are people.

Here’s something unrelated:
