When did Black Ops lose the 100% shield bonus?

The 30-second Bastion timer was much slicker for this.

I think it’s good that the bastion timer is longer than that.

With 30 seconds the one drawback for that incredible dps and repair might as well not exist.

That. Marauders in WHs are close to uncatchable with a 30sek Bastion timer. Once you spot them, on average they would have 15seconds left in the cycle and maybe another 10 to warp out and/or MJD.

Which means in less than 25seconds you would have to drop combat probes, scan him hown, bring a bubbler/ceptor, warp that to the scan result, deccelerate out of warp, throw the bubble or better scram him so he can’t MJD… almost impossible unless you have a crew of elite pilots already prepared for exactly that scenario.

Another example of a broad-use ship that was nerfed for a specific case-use, aka: wormholes. I’m not sure who abused the MJD bonus - ESS raiders perhaps?

So we had Pochven and null-sec fleets for the shield/plate/hull bonus, wormholes for the bastion timer, null-sec/ESS for the MJD bonus and the Vargur got dumped on just because… well, ginger stepchild.

Just for kicks I theory-crafted a Sin fit. I wish I could say it was exciting, but it ended up having an absolutely paper thin tank just to get ~1500 DPS out to 80km (in fairness, the drones hit out well past that but drone DPS was only roughly half).

These are just not designed for solo play (maybe they never were). I do get that these are predominantly geared towards short-range attacks.

Range is low prio for solo blops, you want to be in tackle range to kill something.

The Sin doesn’t have much damage for a blops but sacrifices little of that dps by putting neuts in the highs.

Yeah, I’m sure that’s the case.

Basically everyone and his dog that used Marauders for PvP. Those ships could follow mobile gangs on grid just by MJDing, reaching average speeds of like 1800m/s while having up to 100km damage projection. That was crazy OP.

Sounds like good times. :pirate_flag:

For someone who doesn’t PvP maybe

I know I wasn’t abusing it… It’s like anything in this game: 0.1% of players abuse something and the other 99.9% of players end up suffering as a result.

Marauder pvp stats in 2020

stats in 2022

there is a reason people called it marauders online at the time.

FYI it now sits somewhere between the 2 and is far more balanced whilst still being a usable ship

I’m not sure what I’m looking at with the numbers?

You’re looking at a factor 10-20 usage difference.

Yes, but I don’t know what the columns of numbers mean.

Kills, Points, ISK destroyed and so on. I mean, I know you argue every so often to buff Marauders again, but seriously, the overwhelming majority of people involved in PvP (including Marauder PvP) agree on the fact that Marauders were simply too mobile and too opressive at the time and just needed several nerfs.

They took the EWAR-Resistances away, forced them longer into immobility and restricted the frequent use of their MWD. All reasonable (even while I disagree on the EWAR-part a bit, I had left them some resistances while in Bastion and would have nerfed range and application a bit instead to make their role very clear: dominate a small area but be unable to act opressive towards a mobile gang).

Fixed.

I wouldn’t call it ‘abuse’ unless it’s a EULA violation or an exploit. As long as mechanics allow for it, it’s fair use.
