When did Black Ops lose the 100% shield bonus?

I just noticed my Black Op EHP halved…
I checked and saw that only the bullwark 5%bonus has retained
I’m 100% Sure that when I bought it it still had the shield bonus…

I ask CCP if it thinks it’s normal for a BS to have LESS tank than a cruiser…
With 3X Large Shield on, Damage control II and Multispectrum…

I cannot understand how can the bonus be taken away with nothing in return.
Also, as it is a passive tank fit, about 15K less shield means that I went from about 69Hp/s to 38 Hp/s, with half the buffer.

Are you DONE ruining our ships???
I can’t use it even in a normal lv4 mission with this fit…
ANY BC would do better.
The Machariel destroys it.
This was meant to be a Vanguard Sniper HQ alternative to
the Machariel, also, amongst other things.

Please, could someone tell me what the “QUACK” is going on???
64K EHP down from about 90K EHP…
The Mach can get up to 130K EHP with ONE LSE and two Multi.

PS: this fit has no Damage control II fit, it is still fitted for passive tanking,
but last time it was about 60-68Hp/s. The only way now is swapping to an active shield but the cap is really low also.

This alternative fit uses faction 1200 cannons, one 1600 armor plate,
and it can’t fir a compact 100mn AB… mind you that I have also a 3% PG implant… Everything is narrowed to its minimum powergrid requirements.

If I change the DC for a faction Cap gen, now it can fit the 100MN, but it loses 20kEHP… and still it wants more for a jump portal gen…
either ways, it’s PG is too small to try and fit an adequate tank…
losing all DPS projection almost–
maybe a 2.000PG add could help a bit…
I’m not sure the first edition had this low PG (and cpu).

they removed the 100% shield extender bonus in catalyst

Black Ops:

Redeemer:

  • Removed 50% Armor Plate Bonus.

  • Removed 100% Shield Extender Bonus.

  • Removed 1 Turret Hard Point.

Panther:

  • Removed 50% Armor Plate Bonus.

  • Removed 100% Shield Extender Bonus.

  • Removed 7.5% Tracking Bonus.

  • Added 15% Heavy Stasis Grappler Falloff bonus per Black Ops skill level.

Widow:

  • Removed 50% Armor Plate Bonus.

  • Removed 100% Shield Extender Bonus.

  • Increased rate of fire bonus from 7.5% to 10%.

Sin:

  • Removed 50% Armor Plate Bonus.

  • Removed 100% Shield Extender Bonus.

  • Increased Hybrid damage bonus from 10% to 20%.

Black Ops were too tanky with the extender & plate bonuses, for the Blops gangs we were seeing operate all over New Eden. We didn’t touch the Marshal or Python at this time, but we’ll monitor if everyone swaps to Marshals now, which are considerably more expensive.

I’m not seeing the grappler bonus help for a sniper ship..!

Anyway… it’s too much…
It’s almost impossible to fit a barely acceptable fit now…
Maybe give it a try yourself…
I bought it before Catalyst ONLY because it had the plate bonus…

Blops will run 5 of these and can adapt maybe…
All other players what are supposed to say?
It really needs PG now, just to stay afloat…

they may have changed it since the original patch notes on it.. im not deep diving to find it for you… you can do that yourself…

I don’t know, maybe pyfa still has it, but I can’t access it now…
Anyway… optimal range only and not falloff…
well, thanks for the clarification anyway.
It makes no sense to me whatsoever if you want my opinion..

A reduction in MWD PG requirement and halo bloom would
have made much more sense as an MWD is not optional in Vanguard
formations… maybe next update someone will remember this post…

But really, try to fit all T2 1400 cannons on the Panther, and a basic MWD…

It don’t get even 79% omni, it’s barely working. the Buffer it’s a joke.
Two shots in Vanguard and puff…

And I would need to fit a targeting computer anyway, to reach at least 100km range, so no space for the grappler anyway in this fit.
Maybe it could work with 800mm but that role is already taken…

I don’t get it.

Topic makes me think that we definitely need “Piloting Licenses” in this game. That poor Panther probably feels abused at this point…

FCCP doesn’t need to ruin your ships.

Your choice of fit already does that!

Is that really a Panther with shield resist modules, active armor tank and an armor plate?

You run level 4s with Black Ops? Surely a T1 battleship is sufficient for that, or a faction one the most?

Well black ops do have the advantage over T1 battleships that you can jump to covert cynos for incredibly quick travel speed for a battleship!

I don’t think the OP travels where cynos are available though.

Maybe instead of making posts about changes that happened months ago. Just make posts asking for advice for how to make something work.

There is a lesson for you to be learned here.

It goes like this:
It isn’t the first ship that was nerfed by FC and it won’t be the last. Also there is nothing you can do about it. You have to accept it.

Once you have accepted it and did not ragequit like some pretend to do on these occasions, you can develop a strategy forward.

A possible strategy goes like this:
If you have the isk, just keep those unusable ships in storage and look for others more suitable to your tasks and buy those and use them instead and you are back into business and have adapted to the situation.

Or if possible try a modified fitting first of course (which you seemingly have ruled out in this case).

Finally whatever you do, you have to learn that these things always come in circles. In five years after so and so many expansions and physically changed workforce at FC and demands by CSM and other events, the world will be again a completely different one and those ships will have changed to become usable again and what you used in the meantime might have become unusable.

This is from experience. My primary shiptypes for all things i do have been nerfed into inusability time and time again only to become usable again after 5 years, 8 years or 12 years.

In the first few iterations i sold my ships at great loss if that happened and bought new equipment. After i learned that this happens on a regularly basis, i just put them in storage now and change my equipment to what is now usable for the task at hand. And once those are nerfed i change to either another usable or new ship class or maybe to one of the old that has been again changed in the meantime to become usable again.

That is how i adapt to the constant nerf changes. You have to find your way as well.

I remember this was one of the things I found weird about EVE in my first years. Like, why would you change the ships? I get the whole point with balancing, but balancing is when you tweak the hulls once or twice and just a little bit. Going back and forth between the extremes is not how I see ‘balancing’, but that is how they go about it.

You summed it up pretty well.

There are a whack of nerfs to T2 battleship hulls they need to undo (and railguns).

Not really.

There were a whack of buffs to T2 battleships they had to undo.

There was no reason for either active Marauders nor hit-and-run Blops to be as bulky as they were with the extender and plate bonus buffs which were only meant to make T1 battleships viable in fleets.

I’m glad that change got reverted.

Yes, really. I’m not in front of my desktop, but I’ll expand on this later.

I’m not sure why we left Black Ops with the hull bonus or if this was just an oversight. I think we should consider letting Marauders utilize an Assault Damage Control in lieu of all the nerfs over the past 1-2 years. And why not let Black Ops finally use a covert ops cloaking device?

Marauders are still too dominant in PvE and extremely strong in PvP. And an Assault Damage Control would pretty much not really help them in any of those scenarios, as their main purpose is taking lots of damage over a long time (aka active tanking). An Assault Damage Control serves a completely different purpose: To allow a fast ship to attempt a “burn in and tackle” maneuver and survive until the fleet can catch up and logi can hold it or to allow a weaker ship like a HAC to take part in heavier fights that would usually require the tank of a Battleship, Commandship, Heavy Interdictor or Tanky T3C to survive - again to be used as rather mobile tackler compared to the other classes.

And when it comes to CoverCloak on BlackOps: Sry, would make them way OP. Use a Cloaky T3C for whatever it is you want to do with that covert cloak. We really don’t need 1600 DPS Redeemers moving around cloaked in this game.

I do not understand that either. Should’ve been removed too if you ask me.

Nor do I think it was wise to give the Marshal special treatment ‘just because it is expensive’. It also should have had it’s bonuses removed, as another blops like the others.

FCCP should be more consistent with their design decisions, buffs and nerfs.

Inconsistencies aside, it was a good choice to nerf the passive tank of black ops battleships. Those ships were oppressively strong with buffer and a Fax on call. Still are.

I don’t know why the Marshal got a pass, either. Maybe because it’s not particularly strong with having 4x different weapon systems.
