You don’t have to make the original post from the character being sold, but you have to at least make a comment on the thread showing you own it.
See my thread here WTS 22m Rorqual Pilot where I sold a pilot. I created the thread with Brock Khans then the first comment was from the pilot being sold. Proves that I own him.
