43M SP Returning player LF a home

Hi, I’m a returning player who has tried Eve a number of times and never been able to make it stick. I believe this is because i have always played the game as a solo player even when i joined a corp. I want that to change and find my forever home so to speak. I want to get involved in pvp and join one of the large alliances to get involved with all they have to offer. My most recent corp was horde when i played a year ago. I enjoy exploration, abyss and want to start mining to keep myself self sufficient but i want to learn how to pvp and join in with fleets and the battles i have read about. Im based in the UK and want to be active after 8pm most evenings.

I started playing the game again a couple of weeks ago and I recently applied to one of the large corps and got rejected, I have no idea why, but i’m no feeling a little lost as where to turn. I really love the idea of Eve but without a direction and playing solo, i end up moving to other games after a couple of months of wormholes and exploration. Really would appreciate any advice to help me find a home where i can learn, help a big corp and find fun in Eve!

Hey man, I’m a leader of Legion Ascending, a null sec PVPVE/INDY corp. We have our toes in all the things from industry to all forms of PVP to PVE. We are a bunch of laid back guys who enjoy playing together and doing things as a group, even if that is just chilling in comms talking smack. Come have a chat with us and see what you think, we will answer any questions you have.

Hey Fabius,

First off, welcome back to EVE Online. A lot of people bounce off the game a few times before it finally “clicks,” so you’re definitely not alone there.

Honestly, the biggest thing you already figured out: EVE is a completely different game when you stop playing it solo. Fleets, comms, random roams, and learning from other players is where the stories actually happen.

A few thoughts that might help:

1. Don’t take the rejection personally
Big corps like Pandemic Legion and other major null alliances sometimes reject apps for really small reasons (API issues, inactivity history, recruitment pauses, timezone balance, etc.). It usually isn’t about you as a player. Just reapply later or try another group.

2. Look for “teaching” or newbro-friendly groups
Since you want to learn PvP, try corps that actively train people and run fleets constantly. Groups associated with Brave Collective or KarmaFleet are well known for taking players who want to learn and getting them into fights quickly.

3. Your interests actually fit nullsec really well
The stuff you mentioned lines up perfectly with alliance life:

  • Exploration for ISK

  • Abyssals when you want solo content

  • Mining for steady income

  • Fleet PvP for the big moments

Most large alliances have doctrines, free ships, and constant fleets, which makes learning PvP way easier than trying to figure it out alone.

4. Be active on comms and in fleets
The people who stick with EVE are usually the ones who:

  • join voice comms

  • hop in fleets even if they don’t fully understand the doctrine yet

  • ask questions

Even just flying tackle in your first fleets will teach you a ton.

5. UK timezone is actually great
EU/UK primetime (after 20:00) is one of the busiest PvP windows in the game, so you should have no trouble finding fleets once you land in the right corp.

If you’re serious about making it stick this time, I’d focus on finding a social, active corp first, and worry less about the “perfect” alliance. The right group of people makes all the difference in EVE.

Fly dangerous o7
Hope you find the right home this time.
