Interesting this new concept of “friction free market”, was friction even a problem? what is CCP trying to achieve?
This is a quality of life change for most people who trade in PLEX, and especially those that pay CCP money. Making use of PLEX shouldn’t be a hassle.
I don’t think it ever was a problem. This is dumbing down Eve’s economy and eliminating regional differences, which is one of the defining characteristics of it. I think this is a step in the wrong direction. It’s also named hilariously wrong.
I’ve never seen an article with so many words and nothing said. So all of that was just to say PLEX will now be sold on a global market? Jeez. One sentence needed only.
I don’t see much benefit, if any. It won’t bring the prices down, the prices will settle at Jita levels. And seeing that everybody and their grandmother has a number of alts in this game, who are in Jita, or have easy access to Jita (for those who can’t travel there due to living in a wormhole or war dec or such), everybody already does have easy access to PLEX in the game. I fail to see significance, unless this is just the first step of some bigger change to come.
For everyone of you, there are others who prefer to know why. Devs are asked all the time to show their design decisions and thoughts, if that’s not for you then that’s fine, read the patch notes then or the launch day announcement.
With a global market it becomes easier to trade PLEX for people who do not live or have an alt near Jita.
It is not only in CCP’s interest that players can more easily buy and spend PLEX, but also helps many players.
While I agree that EVE’s economy and regional differences are incredibly important for the gameplay, PLEX has never been produced regionally in EVE. PLEX is not an item produced in this game, it is merely an interface between the EVE economy and the real economy.
I wholeheartedly agree that regional differences for all items should stay as they are, but I can see why CCP makes an exception for something like PLEX or some items sold in the NES.
I love that CCP nowadays doesn’t only announce the change, but also uses additional words to explain the thoughts behind a change. It answers many questions most people would have if CCP only announced the change.
Long gone the days of PLEX tank, best tank
.
A CCP wordsalad
you say? I think @Chad_Frostpacker should sue them for copyright infringement!
The change is here “introduction of a Global PLEX Market”. Meaning this should level the ISK price across the galaxy. I don’t think it will be welcomed by PLEX sellers. From what I read in that blurb, if you buy in Jita it should be the same price, when you buy Rens. Maybe I misunderstand?
As Uriel stated, the blog is a word salad. Not going to matter to me, I don’t deal in PLEX. Might shake up the buying and selling.
Have fun!
Just for the record for the sake of facts: @Meridan_Night stated it, I’ve just replied to it.
Correct.
It won’t be welcomed by PLEX speculators, but it’s a welcome change for anyone else who wishes to sell or buy PLEX.
Not everyone will be able to buy (assuming wormholers). Not really the same prices either. If you are buying out of an NPC station, your skills/standings will affect it. So someone with caldari standings moves to dodoxie and buys PLEX, they would spend MORE than if they’d bought it before moving
Making Eve easy enough for the P2W to not complain.
First PLEX teleportation was implemented, so that they could buy and sell PLEX anywhere without ever needing to transport it.
But having an alt or travelling to a different region is still hard for P2Wers, so now they get one unified market so there is only the thee market and not this overly confusing concept of different prices in different areas.
Another bad idea. It’s great to use Plex to transfer wealth from spy accounts, without api checks being able to detect. At the cost of some risk. Another thing dumped down ..
That blog post was way more scatterbrained than usual. I normally don’t complain about these things at all and I can read through CCP’s blogs. They usually get to a point. This one, literally 10,000 words, when 10 would have sufficed. Might be some new guy they’ve hired with a different writing style. Though I hope not.
FTFY
Unfortunately, that makes a lot more sense.
Sell your plex! When those orders get cancelled, there is no way they magically come back to the price point they were!
What changed about the situation you’re talking about?
You just have to understand: WHY CCP does something and WHAT they present as their reason are two different universes.
