if I cant afford plex, Ill move to a game where I can afford gameplay very simple actually
then you players that can afford the 20 x 500 plex per month, the whoooole 200 of ya, you can sit all alone in this universe and play by yourselves :DDD
Common man, don’t be closed minded.
You gotta affirm everything the op said as being the best idea ever. Any sort of difference in opinion isn’t tolerated here.
Yes, these are trolls who spend most of their time in-forum trying to provoke other posters into angry debate.
You can safely ignore them, they have nothing of relevance to say.
Your notion is interesting, and they appear to have misunderstood the concept. (Not surprising, they’re looking for an argument, not ideas.)
Instead of changing the price of Plex (which would be easily abusable), I assume you mean that, for instance, an account with a max SP character below 3 million could Plex a month for 250 Plex, then below 8 million it becomes 350 Plex, and then anything above say 12 million SP on account would be 500 Plex.
This would still be somewhat abusable (people would level all 3 chars on the account to just below the limit), but less so. It would work better if it was based on the total SP on the whole account. Even then it would be somewhat abusable as players would min-max what they can achieve with a low-SP account and keep multiple cheap accounts Plexed for multiboxing.
At any rate, CCP has never shown much interest in making the game more accessible to lower incomes. They’re pretty focused on players with fat wallets who can afford large purchases of Plex and multiple accounts.
Even Alpha state wasn’t implemented to improve access to the game. It was done to pump player numbers so they could put the company up for sale.
This notion is not interesting because it punishes playing the game for a long time despite the game marketing itself as a long term investment and long term experience. Telling people that they will have to shell out more PLEX to sub their accounts the longer they play is counter productive, counter intuitive and it disincentivizes new players from sticking around for the long haul. Not a single aspect of this idea is in any way good for EVE and its players.
This is a better idea, but I’m not sold on it. Mainly because of the points you listed out. It can be abused.
Way back in the day, EvE used to have a 2 week trial period, after which you can choose to pay the sub fee (pre PLEX days)
The whole alpha clone thing is just an extension of that trial account without the time limit. So yes, it should be limited. I agree with CCP, it should be skill capped and limited to tech 1 and faction ships.
In terms of CCP making the game accessible to lower income folks, they did:
They extended the 2 week trial accounts to indefinite alpha clones.
CCP has to make money to keep the servers live, pay their employees and keep their investors happy. That doesn’t happen magically. If you don’t like how CCP conducts their business practices, stop playing their games. I did with BUNGEE when they went full capItalize with FOMO and their stupid season passes.
Apart from the many other problems with your idea I’d like to add that many things can be done with low skill point alts. I’m sure gankers would love to plex their 5.5mill skill point fleets for a discount. While you would soon be paying top dollar for your main account.
