As for its “temporary” removal, it’s never coming back…
If they brought the player bounty system back, I would just sit cloaked off Jita undock and place bounties on every player in the system. Now THAT would be chaotic…
People used to bounty newbies in rookie channel, and since rookies don’t understand what it is they thought they were in real trouble and freaked out.
That had simple solutiion - a player age limitation for bounties…
And I greatly enjoyed that while it lasted. Like I said, it was removed due to player abuse. Same for the removal of the crime watch system. Players were using it as free intel to know the instant their enemies logged in to the game.
Wouldn’t have changed a thing. Matter of fact, it would have made it even worse. All I have to do is roll brand new day 1 ganking alts, gank to my heart’s desire for 30 days, and you wouldn’t even be allowed to place a bounty on me for it…
So, again, the best course of action was its complete removal. Doesn’t matter what changes or tweaks they tried to make, players were going to find various ways to game and abuse it.
It solves everything. That a <30 days ganking alts are immune to something that is only used as a badge of honor doesn’t matter. Bounties were useless and meaningless, new players just didn’t understand it and freaked out because they thought that everyone in EVE will hunt them.
And players like you who were griefing newbies like this (yes this is clearly griefing) should have been warned by GMs that what they doing isn’t okay just like what happens if you suspect bait newbies in career agents systems. If the player won’t listen then ban. Problem solved.
Just because a player is under 30 days old, it doesn’t mean they are a new player. You should know this. It would be impossible for GMs to scrutinize every bounty placed on “new” players. I could pretend to be a new player in order to get someone banned for “griefing”. That’s why no one ever gets banned for it…
That"s nonsense. Like GMs care if the 30days old “noob” who gets suspect baited in career system is an actual new player or not. They don’t care.
And this discussion where you are trying so hard to prove that this has no easy fix started by me stating that if this was ever an actual problem they could have fixed it easily by hardcoded limit on who you can set bounty to. If they would do that, GMs wouldn’t have to track abusers like you. But I don’t really think there were others.
Ah, so out of the million or so EVE players that have come and gone while player bounties were a thing, I was the only one “abusing” the system, eh?
Fairly certain I never said that lol I asked at what point do changes get implemented, at what point does change happen. Change doesn’t need to be removal of a system.
It doesn’t matter what changes they would have made, players wouldn’t have been satisfied. It took them over 10 years to make changes to cloaky camping, and players still whine about it. They won’t be happy until the ability to do so is completely removed…
“ehi, you finaly awake”
You are even bragging about that every time bounties are mentioned it, why the denial now?
Not denying it at all. It was quite entertaining, but I was far from the only one…
Lol. I was about 4000 meters from you at Jita undock when you were typing ‘bump the Praxis…etc’…yesterday.
Fact is, your little picture is a rare anomaly. In hours and hours at Jita undock I have never once seen 12 people with kill rights. Most of the time you rarely even see even one. There’s usually a handful of gankers at undock…plus various people such as myself out to kill suspects. One gets to recognise all the ‘regulars’…and there’s a sort of ’ you don’t shoot me and I wont shoot you’ truce most of the time as the targets are generally not each other.
When I do see people with kill rights it is usually the regulars. And of course it is bait.
‘Justice’ in EVE ? Lol.
Why are people constantly trying to ‘fix’ things that are not problems in the first place ? The fact that people can manipulate kill rights, or even get their alts to claim them, is all part of the game just as much as suspect baiting or chat scamming. These things are not issues…they are EVE.
It is not an anomaly. This player who is fielding these suspect baits usually fields 3 or maybe 4 every day 24/7 until they get killed.
But the recent free omega allowed this player to upscale his low-effort ISK printing strategy to what you see at the image.
Killrights are hard to spot, there probably isn’t 12 pilots with them at the same time normally, but there is always a few. The system just won’t show it automatically even if you set it on overview with background, you need to click on each pilot manually first, then if they have killright you can activate the overview will update.
Constantly? Where I am doing that?
This one suggestion here is only hypothetical - because the system “I am trying to fix” was removed. CCP removed bounty system because it actually was a problem. Be it because the abuse against new players or some tech issues. If it was the former all I am saying that they could have just add a limit and that would fix that problem. Instead they removed bounties completely.
