Advice for becoming a criminal?

The next time I have meat and potatoes, I think I’ll put a lot of potatoes on my plate with just a small piece of meat. And if someone asks me why I did not get more From gig, I just say, “Oh, do you mean this?” and pull out a large piece of meat from inside the potato blossom, where I’ve hidden it. Good magic castia, huh?

Are you in alpha state, if so then PI is out of the equation, one thing you can try is to ransom folks, start with soft targets, look for someone with something they would like to keep and would be easier to pay you a reasonable ransom rather the exploding them till your sec stat falls so low that you can’t earn as much because you are banished from being able to hunt in high for targets, don’t gank unless it’s necessary because your goal at this time is to earn ISK to fund your future activity.

Being a ganker and being a criminal is not the same unless you are ganking purely for profit, then your a robber, but don’t go for the low hanging fruit, be cunning, surprise people when they least expect but don’t just explode them for giggles, if you are going for the low fruit then join code, then you’ll just have a cookie cutter activity which only appeals to some, do something that is more involved rather then posting slogans and propaganda, pushing someone else’s agenda, if you do this you are playing the way others want rather then actually making eve a sandbox for YOUR entertainment.

If you’re hard up for isk, don’t want to carebear and want to be a criminal, I’ve got three words for you - steal, steal, steal.

Find a place where missioners mission, get comfortable with combat probe scanning, invade their mission and steal anything worth your cargo space. Learn to use your dscanner in combination with your probes to get an idea of what’s on grid with the missioner - if you see faction wrecks like ‘Amarr large wreck’, focus on that, those faction tags take up almost no cargo space and are valuable.

And, as others said, read Feyd’s blog, particularly the ‘carebear to killer’ part. He’s not giving out the golden dildo of destiny or whatever it was anymore, but the advice still holds. People don’t shoot at you often as they used to when you’re suspect, but you can still get a kill now and then while learning critical basics like dscanner, combat probing and situational awareness.

You made the right choice. Good hunting.

Nobody has mentioned it thus far, but one of the traditional routes is to flip miners and then kill them. The mechanics have changed from the old days but it is still possible - more inline with suspect baiting.
