If you want to try Factional Warfare even with an alt, you are very welcome in the Minmatar/Amarr warzone. The more pvpers in the warzone, the healthier it is.
We are the oldest existing alliance of New Eden and we have no sp requirement. About your character being an alt, there is no problem except if you are part of some null bloc we are at war with ( if your main is CVA for instance, I would advice you to join an Amarr FW corp for instance, not us 
)
