An Idea to buf Marauders and make them more usefull in PVP

I would do it in a separate module or perhaps in a Tier 3 bs hull. I really love the abaddon looks, its a shame we dont have a t2 version.

The point of my semi-humorous proposal is that it will solve the problem with too many logistics and give marauders a great use on pvp. Just imagin wh space, it would be marauders online, just like their lore suggest. And everybody will love 2 bill killmails.

The thing is that Marauders are ok for pve. They need a pvp boost, not a general boost, imho.

I thought this was intentional, because Marauders were mainly used for PVE.

Why must every ship be great at both PVP and PVE?

Full T2 resists sounds ideal, maybe nerf bastion a bit to compensate. Seems odd some T2 ships get boosted profile and some don’t

I can solo a Leshak with full bling in a t2 fit vargur. You use those big noots to break them.

Sir, you are completely wrong on this statement.

Marauders are bad for both PVE and PVP activities. OK, they have some really good bonuses, like optimal range, faloff, fire rate, tracking, which put them a bit higher than other BSs. But for their price, their dps is just too low, while their active tank is too high for the area of activities where they can be used. For PVP in low- and null-sec you’ll get a Dread or Carrier better - much more tank, dps and capacitor at the same price. And, which is more important, a way higher chance to destroy something.

Also, it’s just my opinion, Marauders have a low Cap. Being designed to tank huge incoming damage with active tank mods, their capacitor depletion is very high and they are even more vulnerably to Cap neuts, which makes them completely garbage in low- null-sec PVP warfare being in the Bastion mode. Everybody will bring a neut thing versus a Marauder and the Marauder will have really hard times to kill that due to his low dps. For example, Maelstrom has a Cap of 6000 Gj, while Vargur - 6200 Gj; Hyperion has 7200 Gj, while Kronos - 6900 Gj (both with 7 low slots). For a tanky BS I’ll suggest a dual rep Hyperion for PVP than a Kronos.

To balance a Marauder just: make it cheaper 1-1.1 B ISK, give them more Cap or cap resistance and give them T2 Bastion mods, nor polarised weapons.

CCP doesn’t set the prices, demand does.

And capacitor size is far from the whole story. Recharge time of 1100s (base) for the vargur means skills 5 on a a naked hull, you have a +23.5 gj/s cap delta for a ship with zero cap guns. Kronos has a 25GJ/s cap budget to the hype’s 20, and needs 2 fewer guns worth of cap to keep firing.

Now, a 5% per level increase in cap injector per level would address your specific concerns, but this pushes them slightly out of their originally stated niche.

Apart from being, with all due respect, an incredulously dumb idea that enables undesirable gameplay, this is a sufficient reason not to implement it.

You mentioned two of my three recommendations that I shared on Reddit - community shredded me for it. They insist, based on the existence of “Hero Maurader vs The World” videos, that Mauraders are fine or are OP (keep in mind these videos show wave after wave of ships that are paper thin, have no logi, a dread that died because it had no self-reps…)

I don’t think T2 Bastion is needed because it would be literally the only Bastion module ever used. T2 modules like that only make sense if they are usable on T1 hulls (eg. command burst, siege, triage, etc are all usable on T1 hulls).

The are 2 main things being said here:

1- They need other bufs, particulary in capacitor. I tend to agree.
2- They are expensive. I also agree. and their price is determined by the cost of manufacturing, not by demand.

But nobody comments about the posibility of a tier 3 t2 battleship. Really nobody wants them?

CCP killed battleships along time ago. I guess it started with the T3 cruisers. Now nobody even remembers they exist except the mission runners. T1? T2? T3? Who cares? They are just ornaments.

And incursion runners.

And domminix ratters.

and a BLOPS pilots (even if they are primarily a bomber delivery mechanism)

and the couple times people have done 1400 alpha doctrines post t3s, etc.

if you have logistics on your side, they are dead, they dont have enough dps to break reps from 2 logis. You just wait until they cap out and the they die.

Whats the normal tank for a marauder. 2k dps? 5 bc can break that, its not really that much
