Every state in America is reporting rent increasing by 15% or more with projections looking to go above 25%. Just because your lease isnt up right now doesn’t mean you’re not going to feel the hurt. Gas is up in every state. Food is up in every state.
I have seen so many of you guys mocking people for not being willing or able to afford higher subscription prices in a time of 40 year record inflation and the continuous devaluing of the dollar. This isnt limited to America. I have no idea what the cost of living is in iceland and I dont know what ccp employee wages are. Do you?
What I do know is that cost of everything is going up and a ccp dev said something about losing the russian market for being part of the reason for the price increase. In a perfect world video games wouldnt feel the impact of the economy, but this isnt a perfect world. Sure, other games survive on $15 a month but also have millions of players and content has been going downhill for decades. Look at wow, the biggest and most successful mmorpg in history. losing millions of players but still maintaining millions more players than eve has ever had.
If ccp doing a good or bad job? I dont know. I’ve been playing 2 weeks and I like this game. I have been warned that these forums and reddit only exist for people to complain about everything and that seems to be holding true. At the end of the day this game is made by a company that requires money to keep running.
I have been watching a ton of youtube videos about eve history and reading a bunch of the comments on these forums and reddit. For more than a decade people have been complaining that eve is old code that is hard to work with and has so many limitations. rebuilding eve with current technology is kind of a big deal because that means all those limitations that you all have been complaining about for half your lives can finally be addressed over time. Is that enough for the average person to pay more to access? probably not, but it is big news for this game. 2 weeks in and i know that. What is wrong with your brain that you don’t know that?
On top of rebuilding the entire game, they are on video talking about rebuilding entire sections of the game like missions and faction warfare. It’s not instant, so it’s bad. right? It clearly does not take any time to rework a game with more than 7800 unique zones or make sure they are building an easier system for people like me to get into and understand. Going by the majority of the comments on these forums and reddit, you people don’t want new players coming in at all. Ever.
I mean, if you hate eve so much and ccp so much, why the hell do you keep logging in? If you don’t log in, why do you keep shitposting on these forums and reddit about a game you don’t play?

Is that what you see? me defending blizzard? Not even close, that is being realistic as to why other games can survive on the same subscription cost when everything else is going up in cost. Last i saw most days there are maybe 22,000 people logged in. in the evening it goes down to like 13,000 people. sometimes lower. This is a big game but not really very many players. How many of those logged in are alpha, like me? I can’t find those numbers anywhere when i search on google.
With costs going up and paying players going down, what do you expect a small game company to do to survive? It’s like you people would rather see this game dead and gone.
all the posts on these forums, reddit and the videos on youtube don’t appear to agree with you. literally years, more than a decade people have been asking for things that the ancient game engine couldn’t do. There are probably thousands of those posts with different people complaining and in nearly all of them you have people coming in and telling you people that the game engine is ancient and hard to work with and simply doesn’t support some things.

no, I am entering into the forums of a bunch of crybabies that think they know more than everyone else. There is literally nothing you can’t read about or watch videos about pertaining to eve in order to learn how things were and how they have changed.
I have scrolled through pages and pages and pages of posts here on the forums and reddit. I even found the old forums that look way different than this one. What I see is the same group of people whining and crying about every little change and always saying they are unsubscribing and will never be back. But they are back for the very next thing to cry about.

Player from 2008 here. If you had been burned as many times as many of us older players, you would understand the anger and frustration.
When I joined, Eve had yearly expansions that were more than “balance passes”; CCP introduced major new game play features, new ships, new paradigms. We came to expect huge expansions made up of what CCP termed “Jesus features”–stuff like T3 ships and production, wormholes, game engine and graphical overhauls, walking in stations, faction warfare and more. Now what do we get for the most expensive sub price in the industry? Years of “balancing”, contracting industry and tweaks designed to restructure the economy (aka Scarcity) that punished the playerbase because of bad decisions made in the past by CCP.
I’m glad you’re here. We need more new, enthusiastic players. But, don’t dismiss our complaints out of hand until you’ve been around a while as we have.
