Announcing My Retirement

Hello, friends.

It’s been 16 years since I started flying through this universe, but I’m getting occupied with other things and pursuing other projects. In truth, I haven’t really flown much in New Eden since March 2025.

I’m seeing the writing on the wall, and I sense the time has come for me to retire, if not permanently, at least for now.

My Omega expires on February 7, 2026. I have enough PLEX to cover one more month, so I can use that time for any arrangements that need be made.

The things that are on my mind though…are the Luminaire Snowball Fight that I’ve been running since 2013, and the Luminaire Battle of Caldari Prime Astrahus citadel.

Luminaire Snowball Fight

I started this endeavor in 2013, and it’s been going strong ever since. However, given circumstances, I sense that December 2025 will have been the last year of the operation. All items that could be given as prizes have been given out. The Live Events asset stockpile for the event includes millions of snowballs, fireworks, almost 58,000 Quafe, and thousands of Festival Launchers. It has been a humbling experience to see where this event has gone over the years.

Battle of Caldari Prime Citadel

I’m the principle curator of the structure at this time, and we’ve stockpiled enough fuel in the Citadel and the nearby station to keep the building power for the next 5 years, but without me there to keep it fueled, I fear it will literally fall apart. At most, it serves as a Clone Bay without any corporate offices, markets, or hangars.

I’d like to see if this structure could be turned into a permanent NPC building of some kind somehow. I’ve been advised that the forums here might be a good way to generate traction for that request, but we’ll see.

If it can’t be done, then the best idea might be to deconstruct the building and stuff it in a hangar. I don’t want to do that, but if it must be done, then so be it.

Where To Go

Truth be told, I’m doing alot of VRChat, and there is a presence for EVE Online on VRChat. In fact, I’ve had the privilege of bumping into and befriending Maken Tosch, the Amarr-pattern avali who has been spearheading the effort to port DUST 514 assets into VRChat, and he’s done a damn good job of building the Event Horizon rave floor, bar, and lounge. We’ve got some other projects we’ve been working on and considering, and the man is quite talented! I’m running alot of operations and conventions on VRChat, and…I suppose that’s where alot of my time is going nowadays.

Thank You

I joined EVE in 2009, and it’s been a wild journey ever since. Maybe I’ll come back one day…maybe…but for now, I’d like to stay docked up and see where my next journey takes me.

If you want to reach out, I’m ‘commandera9’ on Discord, so definitely feel free to give me a hello!

Thanks for 16 years of craziness from Live Events and Incursions. The people I’ve met along the way have been incredible. Fly safe, people! o7

P.S.: No, you cannot have my stuff! XD

Never seen or heard of you before today, but please allow me to be the first to wish you bon voyage.

Okay. This isn’t an airport, you don’t need to announce your departures.

Obligatory: Can I have your stuff?

:ccpguard:

But joke aside I hope you can find someone to keep organizing the snowball fights or if nothing else people will do it regardless as it is one of the big events every year and one that I personally find outstanding as a fireworks enthusiast.

Would be sad if the event discontinued even more so as it doesn’t even require much work and should be doable without giveaways and whatnot, just people joining together to shoot fireworks at each other should be more than enough.

Anyway I wish you luck with the new endeavors!

As someone who is also quite inactive nowadays (only sign in once or twice every few months) it is how it goes, sometimes people simply can not be active anymore for one reason or another.

Just make sure to only store your assets in NPC stations so in case you return you still have them.

And as we know, you’ll be back sooner or later…

 :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Well, you’re right about that! XD

All my gear is in NPC stations. Nothing is in the Luminaire Citadel except a negligible level of fuel. Fleet Coordination Commission has been notified of my status. 100% of the fuel will be transferred to them this week via contract.

I appreciate the respect and well wishes. Fret naught, for I’ll be nearby. Maybe not undocked, but I’ll be close.

And ya’ll can always call me on Discord. Definitely, feel free to keep on gathering and keep on hurling snowballs and fireworks at each other. I appreciate the continued interest.

Fairly inexperienced pilot here. First of all happy retirement.

Out of curiosity what does it take to keep a structure running could you give it to a corp (I am not in a real corp so I am not asking for myself)

Can I have some stuff back if you’re not using it?

Already told you and linked the related thread with evidence that they have been given away long ago.

Joking, I already have a lot fully researched etc and I’m selling stuff again.

Not on the scale I was but enough to keep me going and not needing to mine every time I log on.

Sounds like you may just need a few months vacation break… That usually helps reignite my spacefaring capsule when I start lagging on logging in…

Anyway, as another long time member of this community, I can honestly say you will definitely be missed, both here in the forums and in New Eden…

Good luck and safe travels to you…

That’s sad to hear but I won’t wish you a farewell but a happy vacation instead.

And if you got the itch one day, to fly your Hyperion once more while melting your graphic card. We will find a way, where you can just fly your ship and enjoy the specatacle without any obligations.

See you!
