API Key Management issues

Can anyone help with getting a valid API key for use withe EVEMON and EVE-Skillplan.net? I generate an API key using the API management tool, it gives me a key and a verification code but when I use these in those tools I get errors?
EVE-Skillplan refuses to acknowledge my character at all, Access Mask = unknown?
EVEMON says “Warning, your API key contains no data”.

Any help with this would be great as these tools are invaluable.

From the error you have posted are you sure you are selecting some of the options underneath the API? I use evmon and my keys are working fine.

some sites do provide a link to a prefilled API, some dont.
