I’m looking into options for how to manage my corp other than Discord because Discord is a nightmare to work with.
I’m mostly wondering if anyone who uses something like this could tell me how it has affected recruitment. Am I right to be worried that nobody will join my corp if I do this?
I also wonder whether you have all members in Mattermost/Slack or if you keep line members in Discord and only leadership uses the other program?
Brave uses Slack. Just based on numbers, it doesn’t seem to have impacted our recruitment. Would I as a member rather use Discord? Maybe, but it’s not a huge inconvenience having to download another app.
We use Slack, it causes endless arguments, we also use Discord.
They’re both ■■■■, and so are the alternatives.

Brave uses Slack indeed.
I have seen some potential joiners complain about it or in rare cases publicly decide not to apply because of it, but most people seem not to mind and it works well; Brave has plenty of members regardless of (or thanks to 
) not using discord.
I’m no leadership but I would assume they also have other channels in other programs, if only to have backup communication if one service is down, or to communicate with other groups in the game.
I believe diplo for example also use discord, and recruitment too for the few players who wish to contact us via discord. Brave does have a (backup) discord for recruitment, or as a failsafe in case of IT problems with Slack or Mumble.
Just do know that while Discord has it’s own voice chat you cannot get that in the free version of Slack, so you would be looking at another program like Mumble or Teamspeak for that.
