Carriers are in need of some serious love. I think they could be upgraded with the following:
• Move the Capital Micro Jump Generator feature to Supercarriers
• +2 high slots; +3 high-slots for Faction variants
• EHP buffs similar to normal » Faction dreadnoughts
• Caldari/Amarr get +2 launchers - Gallente/Minmatar get +2 turret slots; Faction Caldari/Amarr gets +4 launcher slots - Faction Gallente/Minmatar get +4 turrets
• Both regular and Faction variants receive a role bonus of +50% damage to large weapons; Faction variants also receive a +5% (per level) bonus to explosion radius/tracking to large weapons
• Warp core strength of +3, warp speed of 1.75 AU/s; Faction variants get warp core strength of +4, warp speed of 2.0 AU/s
…
Carriers are carrier because the launch fighter… if you gave them useless turrets or launcher then reduce the fighter dmg to 50% ! And btw…
But just dont give carriers weapen slots ! Its a stupid idea …
As i said… its a stupid idea zo gave them weapon slots ! We already have weapon plattform capitals and they called ‘dreadnought’ if you want to use weapons then just fly one of them !
Carriers recently got two big buffs in the Equinox patch already:
Conduit Jumps
Capital Micro Jump Drives and Capital Micro Jump Field Generators
Let’s wait how that works out before adding even more?
These two abilities are behind long skills, so I think many carrier pilots don’t even have access to them yet (unless they injected), so adding even more love to carriers now while the game hasn’t even adjusted to the previous changes feels hurried.
I like to see how the buffs work out first and see how Carriers will use their new supportive abilities to move fleets of ships around between systems and on grids.
The Faction Carriers you mention may be a fun idea later, once Carriers have hopefully found a better spot in the meta.
I think adding CMJD also to supercarriers, dreads and faxes defeats the point of ‘making carriers more useful’.
Right now it’s a reason to bring carriers to a fight. Once all caps have access to it, people can leave their carrier docked and instead bring a dread, again.
Moving one of the tools that currently only carriers have access to also to other capital ships is not a carrier improvement though. It’s a carrier nerf. It makes carriers less useful.
While I haven’t seen it, I heard someone in my alliance say they had fun with it on the ESS deadspace grid.
Considering that you cannot warp on that grid so hostiles often like to kite and snipe from long distances, having the ability to jump you and some others 250km in their direction can be useful.
You did actually work out the DPS increase, right? It’s like half of a standard battleship for regular carriers and maybe a bit more than half of a Faction battleship for Faction carriers. So +300-500 DPS without any range bonuses. And to have the maximum number of turrets or launchers means giving up one high slot in current fittings.
