Wrong, Spanish is the most widely-spoken language. Statistics argue it is Mandarin Chinese however it is contained mostly to one country, China, and not as global as Spanish.

That is a list of native speakers, not a list of most widely-spoken languages, of which the latter includes second-language speakers.

You don’t need to be a native speaker to understand each other in English. For example I am no native speaker but understand you perfectly well when you speak English.

The list of most widely spoken languages has English on top.
