Just for reference for those who might not be aware which thread this refers to, so they can check out the details for nuance and factuality’s sake:

Baseless accusations are claims or accusations that are not based on any factual evidence or logical reasoning. They are statements that are made without any supporting proof or justification.

Essentially, they are accusations that lack a foundation or a reason to be believed.

Idk, all these new “I’m the biggest baddie ever in EvE” just makes my eyes roll. I’ve been kicking around since 2007 so I’ve seen a lot of them come and go.
If someone wants to play their char a certain way and blog about it or whatnot, that’s their business imo.
Sometimes the stories that come out of it are quite good.

proof that you’re not harassing them?

Are you familiar with the philosophy of innocent until proven guilty?

You are creating way too many threads. And they are all about ganking albeit hidden behind other things like griefing or new player retention.

Time to block you.

Feel free.

how about just leaving her alone (aiko) and leave the rules of the forums to the isd

the first is out of ccp’s control, so it can be whatever the author deems.
forums however have strict rules (pg 13) and where you don’t need to be a member to read them, would prefer certain topics to stay neutral or non inflammatory

Agreed :+1:

But will she leave me alone?

You’re implying that they don’t monitor them.

And that’s simply not true.

it is curious that @Swing_Vote1 hides their profile, perhaps their posting history might point to answers to the questions they seem to be asking. I collected some of what I could find and I thought some insight might be appreciated.

Problematic Trends for @Swing_Vote1:

  • Provocative and Confrontational Tone: The user often uses aggressive language, such as “#CryHarder,” and appears to invite conflict.
  • Blurring Lines and Accusations: @Swing_Vote1 actively debates the blurring of lines between player persona and real identity, sometimes in a way that could be perceived as dismissive of others’ concerns about harassment. The user also mentions “false allegations and reporting me to CCP”.
  • Disregard for Forum Moderation: The user implies that monitoring by CCP is not true and challenges what is considered a “hostile act” by forum rules.

Problematic Trends for @Swing_Vote:

  • Confrontational and Dismissive Language: @Swing_Vote uses condescending phrases like “You seem a bit slow on the uptake” and dismisses counter-arguments as “terrible analogy” or “lazy dodge”.
  • Accusations of Bad Faith: The user implies that those who disagree are acting in “bad faith” or don’t “understand EVE”.
  • Cynicism Towards Forum and Game Management: @Swing_Vote expresses skepticism regarding forum trust levels and game development decisions, suggesting hidden agendas or a lack of transparency.
  • Focus on Negativity/Griefing: While raising valid points about game mechanics, the user’s framing of “ganking” as purely “griefing” without considering other perspectives contributes to a negative atmosphere.

Overall Problematic Trends (Common to Both Users):

  • Aggressive and Argumentative Communication Style: Both users frequently engage in debates with a confrontational and sometimes dismissive tone, which can escalate discussions rather than foster constructive dialogue.
  • Questioning of Authority and Rules: Both users demonstrate a tendency to challenge forum rules, moderation actions, and game developer intentions, often implying a lack of transparency or fairness.
  • Potential for Persona vs. Player Blurring: The repeated emphasis on the distinction between player and persona, and the user’s own engagement with provocative statements, might contribute to an environment where personal attacks are justified under the guise of “roleplay” or “curiosity”.
  • Sarcasm and Belittling: The use of sarcastic remarks, such as “#CryHarder”, and belittling language towards other users can create a hostile environment.

Lastly, I thought some advice might be warranted for the human controlling these accounts:

Advice for the Account Controller (Key Themes)

To improve engagement and foster a more positive presence on the forums, consider the following:

  • Positive Communication: Prioritize respectful and constructive language, avoiding sarcasm, dismissive remarks, and confrontational tones.
  • Clear Persona Boundaries: Maintain a clear distinction between in-game persona and real-life interactions, refraining from using persona as an excuse for personal attacks or harassment.
  • Constructive Engagement with Moderation: Approach forum rules and moderation with a desire to understand and improve, rather than cynicism or accusations.
  • Solution-Oriented Discussions: Focus on offering solutions and well-reasoned arguments in discussions, contributing positively to the community.
  • Avoid Belittling: Refrain from using language that demeans or insults other forum participants.
