Dear CCP, I want to be a miner as a solo player, but it feels like the system is designed to punish me

Please stop spreading misinformation. If you can’t remember the details of a tale, don’t tell it. Nothing of what you said was true.
And judging by your kill mail, you know nothing of mining or how to avoid being ganked. You lost a Procurer in a 0.7 that was fit with 3 mining upgrades. You took a tank ship and fit it for yield. You were risking your ship for Plagioclase. That’s pretty sad. You didn’t even try to protect your investment.

Making fun of someone’s zkillboard is against the forum rules, just FYI.

What you did is bring up a random irrelevant loss on their killboard to attack the person instead of their message.

Posting a kill on the forums for the purpose of making light of it is illegal… though I suppose mentioning kill mails falls under harassment- much like his tail of my history that was completely false that he was passing off as fact in order to harass.

I hadn’t played for a couple years, and the minerbumping channel looked very dead. So I figured I’d passively earn some isk on my new account in the background while I goofed around with Suno and skilled into the orca. Predictable results ensued, I gave the enforcing agent a gf in local, and looked up which channels gankers were hanging out in nowadays because some of my favourite EVE memories are forever enshrined in that timeless tome of wisdom, minerbumping.com. You’ll note I didn’t lose the (empty, but still) pod, which is more than most miners can say.

I lost a ship I got as a freebie from a corp mate anyway doing something I knew better than to try. Big whoop. I’m cool with getting blown up, if I weren’t I wouldn’t be playing EVE.

As I recall your tale was “I joined Absolute Will and was told to camp a gate for six hours”. Please do regale us with further tales of nullsec heroics, I’ll be happy to be corrected. How about the one where you jumped through Aridia in a covops? That was a good one.

Chill, there’s no need to call the janitors out for some light banter. Glen loves me deep down, he just sometimes has trouble expressing it.

Please refrain from posting my history. You have none of it right.

Feel free to correct me.

5 billion ISK :person_shrugging:

not illegal. like at all lol.
prohibited does not mean illegal.

9. Use of kill reports & chatlogs to troll & flame is prohibited.

Pilots are permitted to post chatlogs and kill reports on the EVE Online forums if it adds to and is relevant to ongoing discussion, however this may not be done to flame, troll, insult, shame or bait other corporations other pilots

Holy moly, you guys get way too personal.

The point of my OP is that solo miners could have been given a very good option with the hidden anoms in the last update. Something else for them to target besides solo gas huffing. That way they can skill into a Prospect not just for gas, but for ores.

Bring along a mobile depot, scan probes, and go for an adventure in LS or NS, find gas? Great, huff away (as they do now, ZERO NPCs in the scanned gas sites), and if they find the new hidden Dark Ochre, re-fit with miners and chip away at it.

The regular fleet or multibox miners still have their enormous mercoxit anoms, A0 ytirium grade-IVs, moon goo and all the ice they want.

Give solo miners a bone, CCP.

Youre salty arent you… Your numbers are inaccurate.. sounds about right considering you prob dont engage in this activity..

Heres some facts.

Mining with an Orca and Exhumer scales well once established… By established im referring to maxed out skills for the appropriate boosts involved and module performance.

With 10 Hulks, and Orca and a hauler, you can net 1b+ per 1.5 hrs on certain commodities, and that excludes moongoo, which scales even further. And that number is subjective to competition traffic cleaning up some of the volume, so you may have to travel for the same goal adding some time. ^You may also use Skiffs, which will slow down cycle rates of collection by half., but you have a benefit of being “tougher to kill” than those around you, or simply too tough to kill for a multi boxer or group with limited numbers.

You can raise a brow at “watching lasers for 6 hours” but the reality is - noone is out doing this for more than 2 or s hours… but listening to relaxing music and unwinding with some repetative multitask.

Some commodities are for manufacture only.. Some commodities mined, get reprocessed and straight into the manufacture cue.. And, if the market is spiking, then the short time out was well spent.

***You have to take into account that your mindset is your own.. doesn’t necessarily mean that its right or wrong. If mining and manufacture wasnt a thing, the economy would be toast. Theres something for everyone to do here. thats all you really need to understand

You sounded like Aiko just there

Well, she has a lot of good ideas. If it wasn’t for her, mining would be too easy. She keeps mining interesting.

Very true - agreed

I am not. I am amused about the sheer idea of someone talking about “efficiency” when mining Moon Ore in HighSec. And because I am a helpful guy I feel the urge to warn everyone, especially new players, from believing any stupid nonsense of “aiming for peak efficiency” in Highsec. Everyone is best advised to seek out a corp of mining professionals that knows how to get access to the good stuff.

Doesn’t matter how many you use, you still make absolute peanuts compared what you would have made with 12 accounts anywhere else. Grabbing crumbs from the carpet will never be efficient if you could just eat the cake instead.

Yeah mmm not really. I suppose you have a right to your opinion, but i do have hard numbers .. and that usually equates to fact, not opinion.. im sure there are plenty of ways to make astronomical amounts in eve, but there is plenty to be mad3e in high sec, you are comparing apples to oranges….

Not to mention that it takes years of prep work in this game, skilling researching etc etc , developing infrastructure to attain that level of wealth. Its not over night…..

You brow beating 1b isk daily, as i described, is pretty petty considering most of the audience here ( even end gamers) would say thats a decent income. But, again all to their opinons. YOu must be a mega trillionaire in the game.. some amazing elon musk of eve… Billions of isk are rubish to you

Maybe I am just better at math.

Whoever has 12 accounts and still mines in HS is just dumb. And whoever has only two accounts and uses them for one Orca and one Exhumer to mine moon ore in HS is even dumber. Hard facts!

You keep saying that. But since asteroids don’t last forever (and deplete very quickly - ice included), you’d have to have access to a great many anomolies and fields in order to make null worth it- otherwise, you clear a field in… half an hour?

So how much can a miner make not per hour, but per day in null? If I joined a corp in null today, how fast would i mine myself out of anything to do for the day before being forced to wait for things to respawn?

Scarcity made everything… well scarce. And the expansion Oddity turned ice fields into anomalies. So now that anomolies exist, how much in a single day can miners make?

Especially since every miner in said corp is also competing for the good ore.

5b a day? 20b? More? 1 trillion ISK a day? If I go to Null sec, can I make 1 trillion ISK a day with my Orca and Hulk?

And it’s “whomever”. It’s not “whoever”.

P.S. I’ll even make it easier since I have the skills to fly a Rorqual with full fit and ore compression. Would I be able to make 1 trillion a day if I go one day without getting blown up?

This is incorrect. It would only be “whomever” if it were referring to the object of the sentence, but “whoever” is the subject - the one doing the “having” and the “using” - in this case.

This becomes very apparent if you just use the he/him - she/her replacement test.

Subject:
”….[he] has only two accounts and uses them for one Orca and one Exhumer to mine moon ore in HS…..”

Object:

”….[him] has only two accounts and uses them for one Orca and one Exhumer to mine moon ore in HS…..”

Whoever is used as the subject.
