FWIW, “Go back to WoW” no longer has such a sting.
It could not have been a worse company. EA would have been better. RIP.
i’ve no idea where you think i was talking about money or value for money, i’ve always gotten my moneys worth out of whatever game i play, other wise i wouldn’t be playing them, this has nothing to do with money, my reply was to the shitelord that was creaming his pants at the thought of EVE being torn apart. the PA fanboi, i can’t even remember his name and i’m not bothered looking for it. just another idiot troll with nothing better to do but talk shite on the forums when he doesn’t even play the game.
we’d all hate to see EVE end, but one day it will, feck me, i’ve said this a few times on here over the years.
Everything has a start middle and end so play it and enjoy it while it lasts
all we can do is wait and see how things play out. best thing we can all do right now it.
DON’T PANIC!
The 64 bit client is still running on an x86 platform.
The platform covers 16 bit to 64 bit, unless you’re posting from a mobile device you’re 99% likely to be doing it on an x86 platform, Linux, OSX and Windows all being operating systems used on x86 hardware.
As a sidenote: anyone hating on Asian game companies allows racism to cloud their judgement. Business is business and players sooner or later will suck the shoe. The fact that CCP kept the game relatively free from ■■■■ developments for a relatively long time (compared to other games) is just generally rather unique and has nothing to do with them being/having been a western company.
EA is possibly the worst of all companies.
Suddenly I’m reminded of phrases such as “very predictable feedback” and “noise in the channel”.
Wow, and I thought I was bad at math.
The 21k characters online right now aren’t the only character that will be online all day. every second people are logging in and logging out. The Online number means nothing.
Also according to CCP there is less than 1.5 accounts per player, not 2 (as of last year when CCP Quant told us this that is)
And why evern divide by the number of real peoplpe in the 1st plac,e Each account has to be paid for in some way, either by paying a sub or by paying with plex which someone had to pay real dollars for.
If you think CCP is making 75k a month on EVE, man I don’t even know what to tell you, CCPs income from EVE over the last few years has been $4 or 5 million per month IIRC.
There’s deep differences between the two general models. When EVE was based on emergent behaviour, the potential of its population going down to a certain point of warm bodies presented a big challenge. Because for people to write stories, there needs to be experiences and pressure, so if population drops, that decreases and then decline is rapid.
An EVE based on a strict mechanistic approach does not carry such risks. The transition time is a time where it still has to deal with the old risks, until such a time that the game has been reworked fully.
For most old players, the idea of EVE no longer being an emergent dynamic is scary. They grew up in EVE, in many cases literally so. Their EVE is that of identity being important, of actions have consequences for years and years. For gratification to depend on hard work or smart thinking.
These are things which do not fit in a mechanistic model. Because there a qualifier isn’t work or thought, but purchase.
EVE will still be there. It will still work for people. It will just be a different EVE. That’s all.
If you want to know if EVE’s future is something you like, or not, sign up for BDO for a month. Play that game, just the gameplay, do not use the store or other Pay options. If after that time of going through that gameplay you like it, you will be fine in EVE. If not, well, then EVE in the future might no longer be your thing. Which is fine.
Well the Asian mind set to gaming is really make it as a game, which mean not necessarily serious but based on simply stimulating feeling towards players, like being advantaged and all graphic serving to bring up any towards that, that’s why they so many boobs in that game dun you think? Really like a boob gallery but a combination with combat abilities, I mean it’s fine but at some point of their community growing, we just care more about how things work rather than boobs, tho, particularly when the community after the point of getting married
Agreed, as I said earlier, they’re basically the Borg assimilating studios, plundering their tech and ideas and then chucking out the unwanted flesh.
Your butthurt is what makes this game great.
Actually Jagex wood have been better. Jagex knows how to handle the balance of F2P and P2P and at the same time make tons of more profit from P2P. Even after becoming a member of the game, the game is designed such that for more fun one has to pay even more. Example is like a treasure chest key, 1 key for f2p 2keys for p2p, need more keys? Buy them. And guess what, there are members in Runescape that go crazy and pay literally $100,000 a month to Jagex.
I do not know why the groups that owned CCP did not want to sell the game to Jagex. With Jagex you know there will be F2P and a lot of profit. They are the experts at F2P and in game profits compared to PA.
PA’s problem is the ability for them to hold on to same money spender. Jagex does not have that problem.
And fellow travellers, useful idiots, and so on. This isn’t rocket science, it’s just business. And yes, those are actual terms, look them up I did not just call - for example - the CSM useful idiots, I just referred to the classification
The terms may different depending on profession, but the concepts, the operational principles and the textbooks are the same.
This has all be very well prepared for a long time. Looking forward to a massively scripted selective AMA …
For somebody with such a nihilistic view you sure can read alot in the tea leaves. Further while BDO may not be a sandbox like EVE from what I’ve read it is quite sandboxy. So I don’t agree with what you have written above as a matter of course. Especially because CCP has always been focused on profits…that is what venture capitalists do, fixate on profits.
Okay mate didn’t mean interrogate anything, just saying eve so far is alright and alive to the created the game environment, their prechanges as you stated could be you suggested also could be some else like no really matter or necessarily to limit anything, what I can say now is the game hasn’t limit anything yet
Wow…that is some bad math.
Naturally. That is venture capitalism. Pure and simple. But I wouldn’t say it’s nihilistic. It’s more a business perspective, which is what all of this is, at the end of the day. To those who play it isn’t just that, yet it still is business.
Also, there’s quite a bit of commercial and academic research on real world cases and scenario’s as well as practices. None of this is new.
No worries there. Yeah, EVE is alive, and EVE is life. That last bit is what makes it special, and EVE isn’t dying.
It’s just changing. Like it always has. Whether people like the direction of that change, that’s everyone’s personal decision.
By George! I think he’s finally starting to understand the reality of the world we live in.
Call it what you will, it’s the state of the world in which we currently reside.
Mr Epeen
Maybe I will finally be able to get that Hello Kitty skin.
