PH should not have been so fragile that one hire did so much damage. If Asher left the Imperium, the whole coalition will not just fail.
Majority of alliance depend on that one guy at the top. We are the only ones that have a system in place that handles it well (see when Mittani left as an excellent example).
Honestly it was obvious what would happen considering how PH had been operating from almost day one. There was no organisation other than Gobbins on top and a few elitepvpers below him who killed of anyone who tried to fight. It was pathetic to see FCs telling their line members there will be no fight while the line members are screaming to fight. Gotta protect that green kb…
If CCP/FC can claim they are for the “little guy” then anyone basically can. CSM members do it all the time when running for a seat too, players in big coalitions and alliances do it as well. Some because we have a genuine desire to see the game grow and maintain health and others because they have an agenda. If you’re part of a coalition, the size of the entity you belong too is still the main consideration in this context. The ACL Ansiblex change hits every coaltion, large or small (yes there are small coalitions in the game regardless of your identity claim.)
While we’re at it, define “smaller group”? Is it any group that isn’t in a coalition? Is it any group that isn’t a defined alliance with a certain number of member corps? Is it any corp that is less than a certain number of members?
It’s subjective and, by the way, Philderbeast, who you were replying to, did not make a claim that he was part of a smaller group. I don’t represent a smaller group, in fact I’m part of a very large corp in a very large alliance in a very large coalition. If I say this change makes it more difficult for me to support a smaller group then obviously it’s a group I’m interested in defending but that doesn’t mean this won’t affect small independent corps or growing alliances looking to establish themselves in sov space. In fact, their logistical obstacles will be much greater than they are for larger groups who can adapt more easily. That is the whole point of the debate, calling out CCP for claiming to be for the little guy while making changes that negatively impact the little guy the most. There is no fault on an individual’s part if they are a member of that so called “small group” or not.
The third option is that the supported alliance forms a new corporation within the main alliance in order to access all it’s infrastructure without the need for parallel ansiblexes.
This is an unintended incentive for the large alliances to grow even larger, where the intention of the change appears to have been the opposite: to break up force projection to reduce power of these large alliances.
I do not understand why FCCP thinks it’s a good idea to add even more incentives to join the already largest alliances.
meh to be fair i think they are kinda out of options on this one this is kinda a hail merry and they hope it lands on what they think will happen. but you are right this could have the desired effect but it could also go completly in the oposite direction and just make the big coaltions soak up all their little partners they pay on the fringes with less ansi effecentcy but well less effecency is still better then not beeing able to use them. also if power and size is a impact they could just reorg and stage mutlipel sets of ships diffrent locations and run with shuttels between them. and if i can come up with this in like 30 minutes yeah well FC answeres to that ?
They are trying to “solve” a problem that does not exist. “Power projection” is not a problem. People crying about it want free kills. They want to come to 0.0, gank and then run off without anyone shooting back. Problem is that even CCP are not so stupid as to fall for that one so they cry about “force projection”.
Let’s just hope that CCP doesn’t ■■■■ up as badly as blackout and we again lose 30% of the player base in a few weeks. Took years to recover just for CCP devs (who all come from elitepvp background by the way) to mess it all up again.
yeah i am aware that force projection is not a real problem. the fact that they messed up with the rorqual and afterwards made captials teribly expensive to build is way more of a issue. the colitions that exist today have their power cemented by those capitals they build on mass in that period. i mean most people have no clue how big these captial fleets truly are we had about 2-3 years of goonswarm (and i only use them as a expample here) mining 24t isk eatch month and at that time building a dread only required about 700 mio in ore no extras needed. now they need to tackle “force projection” in a missguided attempt to keept those armadas under seal. but these armadas still exist.
Hey all - really appreciate the feedback. It’s a huge change, and we’re very much listening.
The next part of this is the capacitor amounts of the Ansis and how much each different ship uses between the zones. That’ll be our next dev chat, along with addressing the concerns and comments raised in this thread and conversations elsewhere, too.
The problem is that null-sec keeps pissing in everyone’s pool: high-sec (wardecs), low-sec (FW), wormholes, etc. Why? Because they’re looking for smaller scale PvP content - something that’s lacking in null-sec.
Anything that starts to break-up these larger coalitions is a good thing. I’m not sure if this is the “silver bullet” that null-sec needs, or if the mechanics (capacitor) are the best implementation. But it’s at least a start…
We are not. When was the last time we went to WHs or god forbid high sec? Last time was years ago when Hard Knocks got evicted by init. HK who had no problem popping into our space and shooting our stuff then running away. Poke 0.0 enough and we do something about it, don’t bother us and we don’t bother you. We prefer to fight other 0.0 blocks rather than do the whole hide in perfectly safe NPC station while whining about risk.
This will not do anything other than make us even stronger and more compact. So that elitepvp crowd will cry even more about combat fleets in space and no free ganks.
yeah only thing is it wont do anything as the power so to say is a equation something likes speed * weight even if they nerf speed not the weight still is imense to the point where if a big realy wanted to they can still destroy everthing in their wake. FC pretty much can not much do on the power side of this so they cry wolf about the force projection now. just as a example if 5k dreads start moving in one direction it just takes them longer to reach their target but the result once they arrive will be the same
The ACL change also needs to be combined with an Alliance max player membership change. Otherwise most corps will simply make the choice to join Initiative, Fraternity or Goonswarm as it stands.
I’m not gonna offer numbers, but I’d argue that the current size of the 3 listed above is already too big for an Alliance, let alone when those changes go through.
That would just kill EVE even more than incompetent CCP devs. The only reason majority of us plays this abusive thing is due to the community. Lose that and there is no point in logging in. That is why Imperium survived having entire rest of 0.0 attack us. It was either use up all the resources defending or there is no point in the game anyway. Either I play with my friends (and their friends and so on) or I go do something a bit less abusive.
When null-sec abused the sh*t out of the wardec system in high-sec and CCP nerfed it to high heaven? The market/trading/POCO dominance in high-sec? When null-sec got mining nerfed in high-sec? Those times?
What the hell are you on about? We had nothing to do with war dec stuff. If anything we hate it as it fucks with our logistics and we are 24/7 under war dec by random elitepvpers that hide in those perfectly safe NPC stations.
Trading in Perimeter and that was in the end a benefit for everyone as taxes were lower than in Jita station. That was the reason everyone traded in that keepstar. In the end we decided (well Asher and Shines) that it was detrimental to the game and that keep was killed by 0.0
Uh…today? Everyday? You can’t just deny provable facts.
Mike don’t be silly by speaking logically and in moderate tones like that. Don’t you know the sky is falling, kind of like what happened when the Exordium dev blog came out? It’s way more fun to run around with hair on fire and spouting FUD!

Dude, nobody in 0.0 cares about WHs other than as a transport route to go and whale on other 0.0 blocks. Maybe some random Imperium/FRT/INIT member goes there for other reasons but there is no organised interest in WHs of any sort.
Last time there was such a thing, HK keepstar died. But that was quite a few years ago and they had been poking 0.0 for many years before someone got annoyed enough to do something about it.
I was more referring to the Hi sec part actually…
Goon’s latest gank: Obelisk | Naedia | Killmail | zKillboard
Frat’s latest: Kronos | Nienna Itinen | Killmail | zKillboard
Both only a few hours old.
So what? People come to our space to gank too? Should we nerf high sec and low sec into the ground because someone who lives there ganked one of our ships? That is nothing organised and these changes will not do anything about it.
You don’t seriously think that those gankers start from C-J and then take JBs to high sec to gank a freighter?
