CCP is currently offering 5 days for free Omega time, which can be claimed from the NES store “until April 14”. Like many players, I would like to overlap that Omega time with the upcoming Capsuleer Day / Nexus Reckoning event as much as possible for my Alpha clones.
Could CCP please clarify exactly when this offer ends (all times are Eve Server time / UTC):
April 14 at 1100 (i.e. downtime on April 14)
April 15 at 0000 (i.e. the end of calendar April 14)
They get these questions every time and every time they continue being vague. Because including “MM DD ##:## UTC” is apparently too much trouble.
Edit: And you know what else? You’d think these free 5 days would start being offered at the time that the event begins on the 15th, if the whole point is to give people omega for the event. Why start it 5 days prior???
Let’s say that was true. Then why even do it under the guise of being for the event?
However, you can already wait and make the accounts 12 hours prior to the start of the event anyway. And how long is the event? You think 5 days is going to get you everything?
Not everything, but it will get you at least a Sunesis, and maybe even a Gnosis. If you get both, that is 65 million ISK worth of ships that didn’t have to be built by players, and 65 million ISK added to the game economy out of thin air. Now, multiply that by 30,000 players…
I don’t think anyone will create 1000 accounts to get a shuttle, and if they do, the time that would be spent on it would be better spent mining on Venture Veldspar in highsec. The gift strip is from last year.
If all these hypothetic new accounts did get both those ships and put them on the market, it would tank the prices. By this logic CCP wouldn’t give away any free ships.
And as I said, they can still get the first 5 days of the event if they simply wait until the last minute to claim the omega. I guess we’ll see if the first 5 days are all crappy omega rewards. It’s usually nothing to write home about. Definitely nothing worth making 1000’s of alpha accounts for.
Sorry that we didn’t spot this earlier, but the offer ends at 23:59 UTC on the 14th. We’ll try to improve on clarity, since offers can sometimes start/end at DT and it’s not always clear.
This would be a massive improvement. “Claim your prize by XX:YY:ZZ UTC on MM:DD” is pretty easy to include in a post, and is perfectly clear.
Over the years I’ve seen dozens of “when does this occur?” and “darn I missed X because the time wasn’t clear” threads. It’s been a real blind spot for CCP posts.
I don’t think there would be many players who would do it. I am not saying that nobody would have, I know better than that, but look at dailies - they actually give you around 300k SP 5 PLEX and 8 milion + some skin related crap items.
Th “free” skillpoints are equivalent to skill injector thats 835mil, 5 PLEX to about 32mil total 875mil ISK for “free”.
Except it requires effort. Just like these events. And as you can see in the other thread, for majority of players the effort is not worth this reward.
Don’t think it would be any different for free Sunesis+Gnosis that costs 60mil together. That’s nothing really and personally I don’t participate in these events for a long time. Ever since they made the npcs hard as hell and using all kinds of ewar and rewards are personalized it is not worth my time…
