EVE Serenity needs CCP's attention

I do agree with what you said. But my intention for the post is just to get some of the CCP’s focus on Serenity server. I play on both SR and TQ, and I do prefer TQ since I’ve had difficulties to connect to SR from North America.(again, my residency is not in China) So basically this post is just purely seeking for help.

I am a little confused with what you said. China has banned pretty much all the domestic VPNs, SSRs, and their sellers. Also, China has a regulation that states foreign network providers must have servers installed domestically to run their business legally. Forgive me if I misunderstood.

Some updates:

There are rumors that NetEase will take over Serenity. The rumors have restored some confidence in Chinese players.
The current peak online players of Serenity has increased to 5,000. ( most of them are real players because Tiancity banned thousands of bots couple weeks ago).

There weren’t any information released on that and that had become a myth since 2016 or earlier. And any internet plebe can make their own story on that. That kind of rumors had been there for long.

But interestingly, Tiancity did released a news article about CCP wishing Chinese players a happy Chinese new year, and its wording is rather subtle, which I felt difficult to tanslate and explain in English. EDIT: the original video can be seen here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0cQPVhicwg

That really makes me curious. Last time I visited eve offline the daily peak was hitting like 5000. Is that plex discount event so powerful that it magically draws like 1000 people into the game? Also, I am not playing Serenity and it’s a pain digging Chinese forums for clues, so can anyone tell me more about solid evidences on how many bots were banned?

Tiancity just put up another limited time offer bundle of some YC117 SKINs:

Any Chinese player going to fanfest this year?

Now that the letter N is banned in Chia, are they going to have to delete EVE Online, and reistall a ew game called: EVE Olie?

Hey fellas, sorry for the late reply.

From what I’ve learned so far, Netease won’t take over Serenity after Tiancity. This was told by a former senior level employee from Netease.

About the CSM idea for Chinese players, Serenity is definitely in urgent need for one. But I can’t be any part of it because simply I am not Chinese and I only play Serenity occasionally . But it is said that CCP has already spoken with few Serenity players ( who are both CEOs of Alliance and employee of other gaming companies as well) to consult about the Serenity issues. But the two major reasons are Tiancity doesn’t agree with the free alpha clone change, and has no intention to spend part of their EVE profits to upgrade the server, which is a must for the alpha clone update.

In short, situation doesn’t seem good (or getting worse) in players’ views. If we could bring Serenity folks to Tranquility might be the best option since the population here has decreased as well. A flood of new blood from Serenity could be what Tranquility needed right now.

Seriously? I assume they banned certain English words that contain letter “N”. I haven’t heard anything of “removing” the letter yet. o. O

Wait a moment, is that a conclusion of your own research or a speculation you just copied from internet?

I asked two CEOs of former major alliances.

That’s quite interesting now. CCP is actually trying to talk with players? But given the limited channel of communication it may still be months before CCP say anything on this topic.

Just visited tieba and found something interesting:

In around Aug 2016 There was a bug/exploit, according to the youtube video description, “that allowed you to re-apply the MWD bonus ad infinitum (up to 1,000,000m/s). I took advantage of this with a Mach and a Dramiel, flew around, bumped some dreads.”

POC of this bug on Serenity was seen on Serenity on Aug 2016(https://www.bilibili.com/video/av57512938) and still on SiSi of Sep 2016.

As we already know on eve-offline, Serenity is still on YC118.8 which was updated on Oct 19th 2016. Which means this bug could still be on Serenity.
It was almost ignored for past one and a half year; however, some players were using this bug/exploit to bump ships out of POS field recently. I believe they are the same bug because they all involve ships moving at very fast speed.
Video of an example bump:https://www.bilibili.com/video/av20709324
Another video of ship going at very fast speed: https://gss3.baidu.com/6LZ0ej3k1Qd3ote6lo7D0j9wehsv/tieba-smallvideo-transcode/6_ddf57eedac92de5e55ac0872a0f2fd2a_2.mp4

EDIT:Another video uploaded on 2017-9-30 showing this exploit:https://www.bilibili.com/video/av14911346

It resulted in some bans and forum uproar. Well, good job for trying to create some content! I hope this bug makes Tiancity think about updating/patching Serenity.

Today there was another “minor update”(don’t know if it fixes the bug in previous post or not). After the “minor update” the eve serenity version is 14.08.1270111, I didn’t record what it was yesterday, but It was 14.08.1153707 according to my Feb 8 post. I dug web.archive.org for records, and I saw that the Serenity version had become 14.08.1153707 on the day of June 20 2017, and there was a “minor update” that day. https://eve.tiancity.com/homepage/article/2017/06/19/52679.html

Unfortunately, web.archive.org doesn’t cover every day. Dear @Chribba, are you maintaining records of version data on eve-offline.net? Can I have a look?

I suppose those changes in version number relate to "minor update"s announced by Tiancity. However, it seems like they are not gonna change the first two numbers of the version number.

Well, I can think of a reason, after I just noticed that there was another event that aimed to keep people subbing I overlooked. A spam of that kind of events could hint that Tiancity’s income is heavily dependent on keeping people subbed at all costs. And obviously, going for the Alpha clone patch would definitely ruin what they are doing.

Daily Giveaway Event
TLDR: This event is just another event whose first prerequisite is “to have an active subscription during the event”
–I don’t want to waste the time for a word-by-word translation, so in short: for everyday you clock in on this page you get SP and extra stuffs on Thursdays, just like Yoiul festival we had some years ago. And for every 7 days you had clocked in you get a chance for price draw for real life stuffs shown on the bottom of the page.

That server is in a pretty rough place now. Been glancing every now and then at it’s stats on eve offline. Doesn’t look good.

A lot of the Chinese corps are gaining great strength over here on TQ. There is a migration in progress, that is for sure. However, I’m sure many long time players who have gained a strong skill pool over the years are reluctant to start over again, and this is understandable.

In regards to merging the server, should this issue ever arise and be considered by CCP. There are a few methods I think that could work without causing any direct damage to TQ’s economy…I guess I’ll toss an idea out there for the hell of it.

  • CCP allocates some resources to adding good language translations for the client. At this point skill point injection is disabled on Serenity.

  • CCP chooses or creates a high security system in empire somewhere that would serve as a landing ground for transferred characters from Serenity. The stations are owned by a new NPC corp that these players are placed in. This just simply serves as a unique landing ground for the unique situation here.

  • Serenity player initiates character transfer protocol.

  • Only skillpoints, corp history with Serenity annotations, etc will transfer. No assets or ISK transfer. The reasoning is obvious for this when you look at the economical impact.
  • Transferred character is placed in the new NPC corp that exists exclusively for these characters and spawned in the landing system on TQ.

I think for this to ever be done, CCP would have to realize that they have something to gain that is worthwhile for the kind of resources needed for this. If considered it would be very well received to allow skillpoints to transfer. Allowing them to have unique landing system and NPC corp would serve as a warm welcome from CCP!

Along with the “minor update” today there was also a update of Tiancity’s EULA.
Old version:ÊÀ¼ÍÌì³É - ¿Í·þÖÐÐÄ
New version:ÊÀ¼ÍÌì³É - ¿Í·þÖÐÐÄ

The change was removing those 2 articles:
5.邮通公司可根据实际情况,随时单方终止向用户提供某一项或多项服务,对用户或任何第三方无需承担任何责任,但国家法律法规另有规定的除外。
Translation: Shanghai Posts & Telecommunications Technology can terminate one or more service without any responsibilities, unless otherwise regulated by some law.

I think this article got removed because there are laws against unilateral termination of service. I’ll just copy from my previous post:

According to current Interim Measures for the Administration of Online Games (the quoted section is behind paywall) A game company must inform the users 60 days before closing/transferring the game. Any unused game currency/services should be refunded in acceptable ways (which sometimes in practice is not cash refund but only currencies of other games run by the company).

132 3.本服务协议的最终解释权归邮通公司所有。
Translation: Shanghai Posts & Telecommunications Technology reserves the right for final interpretation of this EULA.

This kind of article was very common among EULAs of Chinese firms, which exclude the rights of the consumer to interpretation of the standard clauses. However, this was already outlawed by Measures for the Supervision and Handling of Contract-Related Violations in 2010, and many companies had been fined 1k-10k RMB for that.

So this is just an ordinary revision and update of EULA, yet many tieba users misunderstood this EULA change as it is adding the blue underlined parts as in the EULA page, which is not.

By the way, in the past Tiancity had lost not only one, but several lawsuits (source:如何评价此次eve online十周年玩家见面会 - 知乎) against botters/rmters and had to lift the ban. I bet CCP know much more about what is going on but they’ll probably be cautious when releasing information.

My regrets, but I think Serenity cant saved.
Abandon ship and find a way to join us on Tranquility.

I would say, I doubt that Tiancity will cooperate in any migration plan because it is obviously cutting their profits. Their profits is alrady siphoned by rampant RMT and botting, and sub count seems to be vital as I had concluded before. If they were able to refuse updating the Alpha Clone, they should be able to refuse other changes as well.

How many bots would accompany that?

Around 4999 bots, and one guy to maintain them.
