I am a member of Amarr militia in Factional Warfare and I’m hoping someone from the FW/Structures team can help clarify how Battlefield spawn triggers actually work. I raised this through a support ticket (as many others) but GMs pointed out that undisclosed mechanics aren’t something they’re able to share — hence bringing it here.
Background: Over the past 2 years months several members of Amarr militia have been logging Battlefield spawn times and locations across FW space. We’ve seen spawn clustering that doesn’t match what we understand of the current activity-based triggers (e.g., two spawns in the same system within a 4-hour window, on a day where only 4-5 spawned in one system across 12 frontlines). I’m not claiming anything is broken or unfair — I just want to understand the actual mechanic so we can stop guessing. At this point it seems heavily favouring Minmatar Militia activity.
What conditions/thresholds trigger a Battlefield spawn in a given system? Is it purely system-level FW activity, or are there other inputs (adjacent system activity, victory points, timers, etc.)?
Is there a cooldown or pity-timer mechanic per system, or can the same system spawn multiple Battlefields in short succession purely by chance?
Is the spawn roll weighted by anything beyond activity — e.g., militia size, sovereignty state, or historical spawn frequency?
Why I’m asking here: I went through support first. GMs confirmed devs/GMs technically have tools to make manual changes in-game, but stated clearly that nobody manually spawns Battlefields to favor any side, and that FW spawn conditions aren’t public. They redirected me to ask the dev team directly for the actual mechanics — hence this post.
Would really appreciate even a high-level explanation of the spawn logic, or a pointer to where this might already be documented. Happy to share our logged data if it’s useful for context.
Dude. Nobody is going to tell you the underlying mechanics of how EVE works. EVE players don’t even know how guns and missiles work. Everything we know about that topic is based on some guesses math nerds put together after watching the black box work 20 years ago. FC has never confirmed those calculations and they never will. So they’re certainly not going to tell you this.
You have the exact same option that those long-ago math nerds did: spend the next couple of years meticulously documenting when BFs spawn, in what systems, and under what conditions. Gather as much data as you can. Then put together some hypotheses. Then test them against the actual game and see if you can predict when a BF spawns.
Then, once you have it figured out, get it documented on the EVE Uni wiki and you’ll be a hero to FW players everywhere. Let us know how it goes. Good luck!
We run the data, we tested it and the only trigger that worked was Amarr raising advantage over 30-40% and contestation by 15% but its not immediate spawn, it spawns in AUTZ when Minmil has massive number advantage, funny enough.
It didn’t work when Minmil met this conditions.
So yes we have the data. Only variable is minmil campaigns that make this battlefields spawn multiple times in the same targeted system
Great! Now that you have a hypothesis, test it. If you know what conditions spawn a BF, spawn one for your side. If you don’t know yet what conditions spawn a BF or if replicating those conditions doesn’t spawn a BF, then you need more data.
The OP got banned from official EVE Discord after repeatedly, even after ISD warning and prior communication with FC/GMs, claiming that there is an “inside man” in FC that steers Battlefields towards the systems that he does not approve of. His proof is a spreadsheet he won’t show anyone and nebulous data. Despite what he writes here:
I’m not claiming anything is broken or unfair — I just want to understand the actual mechanic so we can stop guessing. At this point it seems heavily favouring Minmatar Militia activity.
There’s undeniable proof of him going on and on about a hypothesized person within FC that steers Battlefields towards systems that favor Minmatar instead of Amarr.
To the OP: Share your fabled spreadsheet with us, if you have all that data available. In cal/gal there’s been zero indication that anything what you claim takes place, even though the warzone has less people, and it would be much more obvious.
Greeting Mark, I have a statistics phd and would love to see what conclusions I could pull from your data. If you could share it I would be super interested thanks
I have no idea about the prior discussion or about this spawn behaviour, but as an outsider such statements appear to be a conspiracy theory if there is no data to back it up.
he won’t admit it here because he knows it sound bonkers, but his genuine belief is that fc is maliciously targeting amarr specifically, because they regret making a religious zealot faction that enslaves people. if you want to convince him of anything, you’ll also need to disprove that “point”
Someone has to be the bad guy… I mean, the Minmatar are basically terrorists, the Caldari are authoritarians and the Gallente are… I don’t know what the Gallente are.
