Game isn't actually free

That becomes apparent whith all those stories of players who leave for a week’s vacation and come back to find all stuff gone for the many various reasons allowed by game mechanics and CCP so I chuckle everytime I read “real life comes first” on a corporation’s ad.

Why would the game be totally free? Are you new to gaming? Free to play in gaming usually means free accounts have their progression limited in one way or the other, to entice the players to PAY money to remove the restrictions.

Servers costs money to run, the staff they employ need to be paid, they have to pay for tool licensing, legal, accounting, taxes, hardware cost, etc.
Why would they pay for all that and give you the full game for free? Would you work for free?

Videogame dev studios are a business.

Games are not free to develop or support, plus the infrastructure to run something like Eve must cost a hell of a lot.

But still entitled parasites like you want everything for free, without any thought on how CCP are supposed to support the game and their staff without money coming in.

This isnt some mobile phone Flappy Bird game.

Nothing you just wrote actually matter since CCP themselves are advertising EVE as free2play and not as unlimited free trial.

What you wrote does not actually matter either, becasue you CAN play Eve for free… you can just play it better with Omega.

A.k.a. pay2win. You are right, nothing we say matters, because that’s obvious to every new player right away when they discover omega accounts.

They’ve lied every step of the way.

Originally it was only supposed to be a difference in skilling speed. 2x (Omega) vs 1x (Alpha).

CCP can only be trusted to lie or under-deliver. This is all we have learned from them based on their own actions.

There are three possibilities here:

  • Your memory is failing
  • You talk about something you where not around for and just repeat hearsay
  • You are deliberately lying

Alpha had level capped skills from the very moment it existed. From the very first post they communicated this “free” version, they made clear it’s a limited set of skills and free accumulation of SP would stop if the character has over 5mil.

CCP lies about an insane amount of stuff or rather “forget” promises they once made, but this wasn’t one of this occations.

No, its free.

I can start as an alpha. Not pay a single penny. Save 10 billion ISK, and buy PLEX. Now I can train everything and nothing is restricted.

And I didnt pay a single penny.

So yes, it is free. I can do everything that an Paying, subscribed customer does, without paying a single penny. All i have to do is make a ton of in-game ISK, buy PLEX, turn it into Omega time, and play.

Its not pay-to-win, if the original game is a pay-monthly platform and they offer free limited trials, which is what Alpha was created for.

Of corse their advertising would try to pull you in with a free taste, thats marketing and business. But Eve has always been a pay monthly platform. Hell when they even hinted at a pay-to-win policy there were actual in game riots (as much as we could riot in game).

limited free to play is the more accurate
but they will not put limited in the page

Then there is no such thing as free to play for anything where you can do anything with real life money.

After all, how can you say that World of Warships is free to play when i as a new, free player, dont have access to everything, all ships and all skins, at the very beginning?

Even if CCP added a caveat to it, like World Of Warcraft does where they note that it’s only free to play until level 20, players would still whine about it. They want everything for free with zero effort. They want access to the full game without having to pay for it like Omega players have been doing for 20 years…

LOL and you believed CCP? lol lmao

Diablo Immortal is pay to win as you pay hundreds of thousands to literally be in the top 30 on the entire server, when you pay in eve you are now on a level playing field of 100k players.

I would not consider being top 100 000 winning.
Maybe for you it is but then you need to set your goals higher.

Eve is pay to compete.
Free is to be cattle for the paying players to farm.

yes
same way wotb is free to play
i played for some years without spending a dime

last year i whaled hardcore i will admit

No.

A 6 month old new player given a 15 year old account, will not always be able to beat a 15 year old player given a 6 month old account,

Infact, out of 10 matches, the 15 year old player will probably beat the 6 month old 8 times out of 10.

That is not pay to win, or even pay to compete.

You can’t compare apples to oranges thou it has to be:
New player in Alpha clone vs New Player in Omega clone
vs
Old Player In Alpha clone vs Old player in omega clone.

My whole argument is that omega does not = winning.

Omega is a starting point not an end point.
