let me be clear,
you wont troll me out of eve. I will stay here, and advocate for change to this abuse.
my corp was filled with beautiful people, who had fun and enjoyed themselves. You have only given me more time to advocate against this abuse, every comment, ever post you only encourage me to fight harder.
My corp is a success, and never be viewed in my eyes as a failure. this is why i have taken my criticism about eve out side of the game, and these forums. I will bring about the change needed to end your abuse.
You may rest assured we all appreciate your determination. Having you go away and start over with new toons nobody knows are you is something I’d rather not happen. Persevering with the toons that have already shown how smart and honest you are is the right thing to do, indeed. Truly appreciated.
I kinda wish you’d take this kind of attitude towards getting good at the game instead of whining and demanding that CCP change it for you, @Noori_Naarian@Naari_Naarian
I don’t think anyone here wants you necessarily to leave the game. There are a number of us though that would like you to stop scamming new players.
To bring it back to topic, that’s one of the examples of how ganking hasn’t gone too far.
When CCP made friendly fire illegal by default, ganking remained as one of the few ways players can take action again scam/poor CEOs that do more damage to new players than they do to help.
Whether that’s ganking in a Corp (as has happened to you) or putting alts into a Corp and then ganking all of the other locals, there are few tools left that can be used against scam CEOs that rip off their members.
Luckily, ganking exists and there are no signs that CCP will change that (I hope it stays that way).
I know right? It’s like the fundamental question a game designer would ask. Yet he ignores or glosses over it.
Other games deal with this game design challenge primary by just no actually having a player-driven economy or by disallowing public player owned structures completely. A few others minimize the damage by strictly tiering resources so that those that the infinite supply that may spawn into a safe zone are contained.
Of course CCP could do the same, but it isn’t as simple as our friend claims. They would have to rework all of highsec and how resources spawn there to accommodate a safe space. And for structures, I don’t see why they need to at all given wars and PvP related to fighting over structure is already consensual and opt-in.
The reality, for whatever it’s worth, is that Eve Online is old and set its ways. Way more work would be required to rebuild how highsec works that to just make a brand new sector space with a new set of rules. CCP lacks the will and the resources to change central and important game mechanics, so it seems very unlikely we will ever see the work necessary to make highsec in to the carebear paradise a few malcontents continually bleat for. Even the pass at the war mechanic was just a feather touch, fixing a few minor, and a couple glaring, issues that should have been fixed years ago, and barely touching the core design of the mechanic.
But I really have a problem putting myself in the heads of these carebears to see what type of game they envision would be left if highsec was perfectly safe and all conflict was stamped out of the game. I guess I don’t have to extrapolate too far though, as CCP’s anti-content strategy for game development (Nerf anything interesting! No need for new objectives! Just make them safer so they’ll stay!) for the last years has taken us most of the way there already.
Educate yourself about the person I’m talking about, then reconsider.
This guy lies through his teeth, abuses new players, tells lies about himself, tells lies about us, claims to be super rich while stealing other players’ money, including new players, lies about his real world job, lies about being unemployed, lies about pretty much EVERYTHING.
When someone is only out there doing nothing but trying to manipulate people, while constantly talking as if he had any power, while constantly seeking power, then I can rightfully call him a psychopath.
And I think Concord was designed to punish illegal combat. Concord therefore does exactly what they are meant to do: they deter people from ganking, but do not actually stop people from ganking.
After all, EVE is a PVP game at the core and (non-consensual) PVP can happen everywhere when undocked.
Just think about it, if Concord was meant to actually prevent illegal combat from happening, why did CCP create the game in such a way that you can set your safety to red? Why did CCP not prevent you from shooting illegal targets at all in high sec space?
Simple: because illegal PVP is intended to be part of the game. People can’t play pirates in a space game if illegal activities are impossible. That’s why those activities are merely illegal, and with repercussions.
Without illegal activities no space pirates. And without space pirates no EVE. Ganking is and always will be part of EVE.
